"The weird, absurd, taboo, and the awkward are the Heyoka's home territory.
His antics can be quite vulgar, disturbing, or unsettling,
and can be somewhat scary to those with dull humor,
but is never actually ever a physical threat, but may challenge
one's notions and thoughts by reflecting a mirrored image of the viewer,
and may hurt one's feelings by poking fun at them if they are soft-skinned..
"Haha! The joke's on you!"
He says, and when you can truly and honestly laugh at yourself,
the Heyoka has done his job...
Having accepted my role as a Sacred Clown,
I purposely do things with the intention to show people that's what they are doing.

"Don't be like me..." is the slogan of the clown.

I play the role of town drunk so other people can point at me and be like "Don't be 'That Guy' "
and can consciously control their behavior to not be belligerent.
The Clown does the opposite of what a person is supposed to do.
In this way, societal norms or values can be taught by an act or theater,
without the message being told directly.

Us Clowns and comedians have an essential role to play in society.
We can touch upon and highlight aspects of culture that cannot be
easily discussed or handled, and to smash through barriers of the taboo
and throw that pie in someone's face (metaphorically).
Comedians can talk/joke about race, sexuality, violence,
and cultural norms that is awkward to bring to the table,
and break the ice by making everyone laugh about it.
In this way, society can progress through those sticky topics
with the guiding ease of humor and laughter.

Clowns are the unsung heroes of progress and making people's
lives easier by making people overcome their seriousness and righteousness.
Life is too crazy to take so literally..."

think this character is related to someone I met on my travels!
Thank you!
I have a feeling that all Heyokah Jesters are one and the same, just changing appearances according to the frequencies of the traveler that meets him :D

Very nice illustration, thank you! For me the trickster appearance is always in black and white for instance, contrary to the rest of the experience.
