My way to extract spice- what is wrong?

Hello,
The problem here is I ALWAYS receive almost none of spice after doing my pulls.
I tried about 4 times the ACRB extraction but none of them accomplished.
I tried different teks, MAX ION, and some more I cant remember.. all hybrid or acid cook

I ask you to help me find out what is wrong with my way?

So, as introduction I use only these things in my extraction:
- Acacia Root bark bought from uk supplier
- NaOH
- Citric Acid
- Naphtha (lighter fluid)
- dH2O

I have professional glassware, half-pro other tools (working well!), nice scale, pH meter, so all of these things are measured correctly. No chance that sth is wrong with weights / chemicals (I use 99% +-1% pure ones)

Steps I did:

I put a soultion of 100g ACRB in citric acid-acidified water, pH=3 on my electric heater and boiled it (80-100^C) for hours using a reflux system [pic]

After 2-3 sessions of boiling, I did 2-3 x 10ml Naphtha to pull out unnecessary things from solution.

After it, I made my soultion caustic to pH = 12 and let it sit for about 5-6 weeks, shaking it sometimes.

Past that time, my pulls were:
1st: 50ml Naphtha for each from 2 flasks (450ml solution per flask)
2nd: 20ml Naphtha for 2nd flask

!! SOME DETAILS ABOUT PULLS !!
After pulling naphthta from my solution flask, I put it in another flask with distilled water to flush it and to be sure no of NaOH is in there.

Here is a pic with glass and spice inside it. Some oil spots and very hard to see sticky powder:

And I stopped, beacuse I cant really see any yield. There is some goo, some yellowish sticky powder? But there is no more than <100mg of it... so it is not worth to even scrape it!!!


1 more thing about spice test...
I did a Marquis colometric test using that scraped sticky powder?. According to DMT database, the color should be yellow to brown. I got that [pic] so it IS DMT FOR 100%... but why so "much" ?!?!

What is wrong?!

My first guess is that your supplier is doing a water extraction then reselling you depleted rb. 2nd guess just a unproductive tree or harvested at the wrong time.

I suggest only buying whole root bark and powdering it your self and try a different supplier. And bty way you dont need to let it sit for about 5-6 weeks, swim has done full extractions precip and all in under 24 hours with excellent results, you dont even have to boil/acidify the first extraction.

Yes, that is my guess aswell.. To change the supplier..

I let it sit for 5-6 weeks because I was so angry that previous pulls didnt yield, so I tried a lot of configurations what possibly can be wrong.. ^.-

Eustachy123 : Did you check pH of the water used for flushing NaOH in the solvant ? Because if pH <10, a part of DMT will be in salt form in the water. (normaly it shouldn't with distilled water but who knows ?)

Yes, that was defat.

"Bunk 100%"? can you explain what it means?

In my opinion, salt is used around 3-4 pull, when it is not big enought, but even my 1st one is >> 0 <<... so I think even with salt the efficienty will be low enought.

Bunk means:
You did everything right...ish
...but the only variable that is questionable is the bark.

It appears that what 'they' say it is...is wrong.
The bark is 'probably' not ACRB...sorry.

Also a saline/base mix will push 'most' of you product out in the first couple of pulls...that is why it's so effective.

If your water was slightly acidic (<pH6) ... you may have transferred/salted out your product into the water.

That cloudy water pH is 10.2, so i suppose that cloud was just remains of NaOH which was pulled with naphtha (so it is not acidified and no chance for DMT to be soluble in caustic water)
