Naphtha absorbing water?

So the past couple extractions haven't gone so well, but I believe it to be due to the bark. I have acquired new bark and want to start an extraction on it but I am concerned my naphtha may have absorbed water or I am doing something wrong that I can't figure out.

Everything goes as planned until the freeze precip when I have been noticing frozen condensation on the upper portion of the jar above the naphtha level. This condensation will melt upon removal from the freezer and drip down into the naphtha where I can clearly see a separation.

Is it possible that the naphtha has absorbed water from the air? It is about 2 years old but has been in the original container shut tight. Also the freeze precip is taking place in a closed mason jar so I don't see how any water could enter it.

It sounds odd that naphtha would absorb water but acetone does so it isn't too odd right? I have no idea how else I could be getting water in my collection jars?? If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it as I would like to get on with the new stuff and don't want mess it up if it turns out it isn't the naphtha that is causing the condensation.
 
Naptha being extremely non-polar is not going to absorb any appreciable amount of water regardless of what you do. What sounds possible is that there may be moisture in the the air in the headroom of your jar. This will condense on the walls of the jar when it is cooled and eventually move down the sides of your jar into your solvent, where it should form the bottom layer.

If you have in some way mixed another polar solvent (an alcohol for instance) with your naptha, then perhaps you may have some water in your naptha, but more likely mixing it with naptha would cause the water to fall out of solution into two layers.

Have had water condensate on/in frozen jars during periods of extreme humidity.

Evapped naptha down. put in shot glass. added more water so all the little bubbles of water formed one big one. Removed with eye dropper.

For future, after snow globe forms, pour off Naptha very quickly, put back in freezer upside down on plate, wait for remaining Naptha to drip off. Wait. then take jar out of freezer for final evap.
 
Thanks, I guess there is no way to prevent this then if it is just humidity in the air. There isn't too much water condensing but there is enough to make for a long drying time of anything I pull, I guess I will have to give the eyedropper method a shot.
