Need help with my cellular biology paper

Migrated topic.

hello everyone,

i wasn't sure on where to post this but i guess most of you with knowledge of biochemistry and cellular biology are around here. i'm supposed to do a paper til the end of the semester, i was thinking on presenting something about mycelium of the fungi but still not sure where to lean on.
do you have any ideas on what theme i should work on? this is my first year taking the class and just started so i wouldn't want myself lost in farfetched researchs.. something more easy for a first-timer.
feel free to point me out to any interesting themes to approach.

thank you

What are you interested in/already have a grounding in. 'Cell biology' and 'biochemistry' are both really huge topics. Try and narrow it down a little.

I study molecular neuroscience, so I've been doing some interesting research into 5-HT2A/mGluR2 oligomer complexes that are implicated in the neurobiology of psychosis, perception and both classical and dissociative psychedelics.

Signaling pathways are always interesting: what happens in a cell after activation of a metabotropic receptor (those g-protiens get up to some funky stuff). I worked in a lab last year that was looking at novel methods of differentiating stem cells into glutamatergic and serotonergic neurons in vitro. That was fun.

All the best

That's really cool! I had no clue

Here are some interesting papers, if you're into that sort of stuff

How about metabolism? e.g. the different metabolic processes that different fungi use to make energy off of substrates. primary vs secondary vs tertiary decomposers.

Another essay topic could be about fungal secondary metabolites which category includes anything from amanitin, phalloidin, psiloc(yb)in, miscellaneous medicinal compounds (think for instance cordyceps + ganoderma genera). You may find this later topic particularly interesting and I remember I had done an essay on this very topic when at uni.

thank you all for your input, i'll definitely take a look at those papers you've posted.
i'll probably write another post later on while working on this paper. thank you!
