New Peruvianus

Just thought I'd share a few pictures of a new friend who has recently come to live at my house

The Peruvianus is the new visitor - he's on the right in the pics where 2 are shown.... PC "Pachanot" (big brother) located on the left.

Very excited for the new family member!!!!

Might be wise to sample it before spending too much time growing it (assuming consumption is an important aspect of the process as it is for many). A lot of the "peruvianus" in the states are cuzcoensis, and most reports are less than favorable.

Not meaning to cast a negative light on your new friend by any means, I just wouldn't want for you to devote a lot of time and effort towards growing something that may not be what you think.

It is indeed a very beautiful cactus!

Thanks for the input....

This little newbie used to ultimately belong to Kate, so I believe it is indeed the proper species..... Apparently an older brother of this guy poked him near one of his spikes at the top - and a little bruise / damage appeared there.... as a result if you look at the near top to middle of the guy you'll see very short spikes equaling stress endured. Either way - I'll be happy just growing him larger, but harvest is planned for not too long from now and re-planting the cutting from the tip as well as expected new growth from the existing rooting system.

That is alot more smooth ribbed and less spiney than cuzco hybrids looks like peruvianus to me congrats on your new cactus

Wise advice indeed!
I learnt the hard way... cuzcoensis looks much like T .peruvianus!

looks like someone bought a cactus from zircon6 on ebay
