So, with all the talk of creating a community for entheogenic usage, and all these damned DDoS attacks.... I thought up the idea of an Ark!

It would look something like this: ARKKKK

Just a little bit bigger and of course more colourful! Also I doubt there would be a giant pink elephant at the front (maybe in the middle but def not at the front! dont wanna risk flipping it over)

and well if anyone was interested in joining me on this escapade (we'd need a LOT of gopher wood) please let me know!

I was thinking we could put it out in the middle of the Pacific ( I think thats the one between the US and England?) And we could just sail around enhancing ourselves and fishing fish from the sea. :)

Even eat a fish? Fish are great! They make some good eats. And cats like fish toooo.

Maybe we could buy a decommissioned aircraft carrier. Lots o' deck space for plants, and lots o' hold space for Nexians and fungus. Just need some sails....!

I don't know if this is what you were getting at by this post, but that does leave me with the impression that an Ark would be a good idea. Maybe if Traveler or someone else could make a DMT Ark, which would serve as a backup site for when the Nexus is attacked or down. It could just be a place for Nexus refugees to continue to communicate under such circumstances.

Does anyone else agree?

That did happen did it not? Or was I just tripping.

No. I generally mean an Ark. :) And thanks, yes Atlantic is what it must be. The site was up, but I don't know who was all invited to view it. I believe it was up once before and people posted the link on other sites, which it got attacked again so I imagine fewer knew about it... but what do I know.

Yes... a decommissioned air craft carrier would be pretty cool... wonder how much that'd cost? I still think an old-fashioned Ark made out of gopher wood would do the trick just fine ;)

What an excellent plan. I've considered this too.
May also be a very helpfull step in one day finding a nature-rich, uninhabited Island to inhabit.

If a decomissioned aircraft carrier or large cruise ship can be bought, this could be nicely transformed into a Nexian Ark.
Basically all we need is the hull and main body of the ship.
A sail could propell us. Not very fast, but we're not in a hurry are we?

A very sustainable way to (extra)power the propulsion of the ship would be to invest in Methane-driven engines.
If the ship also has a large tank that filters Methane-gas off of Sewage (constantly provided by the Crew), we'd allways have free Fuel.
Might be handy to get out of harms way when Atlantic storms head our way.

- One idea is to join forces to buy an old ship like THIS,
then take out all non-essential parts and sell them. Basically we only need the hull & the fuel tanks.
We can sell all the luxurious parts we don't need and from that money we could proceed to buy and install A Methane gas engine and a large
Sewage tank connected to the onboard toilets.
Does anyone know what an old, but seaworthy Stenaliner might cost?
If we know this we can calculate how many people supplying 10.000 euros each are needed to buy a Stenaliner.

- Another idea is to, as you suggested, build it ourselves, using ALOT of wood. But all that wood will either cost a fortune or it will deforrest a large patch of forrest somewhere. Huge deforrestation is a big nono and being done by far too many people allready. If the costs of ordering supplies and building the ark are higher than buying a stenaliner and fit it with a Methane-energy system(as described above) then it isn't worthwhile either.

Never forget off course: If 50 people each save up only 5000 Euros, together they have 250000 Euros.
If each person saves up 10000 Euros, together they will have 500000 Euro; I bet you can buy quite a nice ship with that Money.
A Stenaliner can hold HUNDREDS of people + cars, Trucks, Tons of Cargo. Imagine how much money 200 people can put together in a small amount of time...

I'll get right back to my drawing book to sketch some Ark-Designs. Will post them here when done. :D

True. From the 16th to the 19th century Europeans sailed across huge oceans in wooden ships so a gopherwood Ark should defenitely do the trick.
Looky! Here some French guy built a Replica of Noah's Ark: Chrétien contact

I would defenitely help you build that, Ellis D'empty. Just let me know when you have a drydock available :D
Or have you been alarmed of a great flood to come?

Now for real.
What would it practically cost and take to actually build such an ark? (and inhabit it and cross oceans with it)
Suppose it would be built from wood like Noah's Ark, but with a Sewage-fed Methane engine to power it.
You'd need:
-A shitload of long wooden planks & beams
-A mountain of long, corrosion-proof nails
-A lake worth of proper, waterproof woodglue
-A small lake worth of Epoxy or some other waterresistant resin (to cover the wooden hull with)
-A Methane-fueled Engine (+ long metal Drive axis connected to the metal Propulsion Screws)
-Drinking & Washing water-tubing
-Several Toilets & Sewerpipes
-Large Sewage collection tank with Methane-filtration system
-Methane gas Fuel tank(s)
-Methane gas-tubing
-Electric Generator
-Miles of Electric Wiring
-Electric Lighting
-Navigantional equipment

You could possibly generate electricity using solar and wind energy at sea.
Possibly you could also lead hot exhaust-gasses from the engine into a cylinder and through a fan to drive a large Dynamo to generate electricity.
This could then be combined with Solar and Wind energy.

This ark could come to look like this: (except then be motorised, selfsustaining, alot more colorfull and have electricity)

But seen the monstrous size of this task and the monstrous price for all nececairy supplies it may be alot more realistic and practical to just
buy a ship and rebuild it to basically run it's engines on the crew's shit + organic kitchen waste.
This Dutch site has boats for sale. This Ship is € 199 000,-- and can carry maximally 150 people(!)
It's a party boat with Restaurant space, Kitchen, Terrace-space and a Dancehall space.
The Dancehall could be modified into alot of sleeping cabins and several Shower Cabins.
The restaurant could be used as a dining room. The kitchen would be fine as is too.
Vegetable, Herb and Fruit could be grown in greenhouses on the roofs of the Restaurant and the Dancehall.

Wether this ship is suitable for the Nexian Ark idea I don't know. I don't know if it's Seaworthy or only meant to fare on rivers, canals and lakes.
But you get the idea. If a group of dedicated people raise more money they can probably build a seaworthy, large enough ship to serve as a Nexian Ark.

I imagine it would be marvelous to live on. Would be very nice to have a backup DMT nexus server onboard.
Several offline computers to contain forum content as well as a library of Entheogenic, Botanical & Extraction/Synthesis PDF files.
With the Sewage-Methane-Fuel(Possibly + solar & wind energy) the ship doesn't really have to dock and buy expensive fuel.
Greenhouses for Fruits, Vegetables, Herbs and Spices could be built on parts of the deck and on the roofs.
The ocean will provide us with dayly fish, crabs, lobsters, shrimps, Octopus and whatnot.

I will continue to scan this Dutch boatsales company's site for a large enough Seaworthy ship.
If any of you can search online Ship sales companies for a large enough, seaworthy ships too,
maybe we can find a suitable ship to be transformed into a Nexian Ark

II propose a vessel called the USS (universally shared ship) NEXUS ARC ( aya reconnaissance craft), the hull hewn from mimosa hostilis root bark, the masts twining caapi and the sails of this ship, stitched viridris leaf in the stern and chali jib at bow. All sides shall be refered to as starboard, and the only things permitted on board are dreams, in pairs, male and female, of course.

Jark

I suppose we could use one of these;

I see on the roof there's allready a glass compartment that could function very well as a greenhouse for Fruits, Herbs, Vegetables & Spices.
What would such a floating palace cost?

I should soooo win the lottery.

That wouldn't work. After a couple weeks at sea we'd probably be bobbing round in the water trying to figure out how to turn our GVG's into life preservers because we extracted the thing.
