No washing when doing a Re-X ? (Cyb's tek)

Last week I did my first extraction. I combined info from the web and the FAQ's. I was aiming at a clean end-product. So I added a washing-procedure. But now, after reading more and more, I am re-evaluating my procedure. I will start using Cyb's Tek. But I am doubting to add a washing procedure in it.

I wonder if you need a soda-wash when you already are going to do a Re-X? With other words can you clean the crystals from any lye and the other impurities by doing a Re-X?

The following is what I did last time. After 5 pulls I:
4. added (1/4 of total amount of ml) water saturated with baking soda (Ph 10) shaked hard and pulled sodawater
5. added (1/4 of total amount of ml) water saturated with baking soda shaked hard and pulled sodawater
6. added water shaked and pulled fast
7. did MgSo4 in microwave for 5 min
8. added teaspoon MgSo4 shake and separated water and nafta
8. did the nafta in freezer -3C / 27F
9. poured off nafta
10. let the crystals dry

I've started doing a wash with washing soda (sodium carbonate) right after pulling the nap, and the results have been whiter and more pure. I'm very careful not to pull up any lye in the pipette, but when I do the wash I still see the water turn slightly yellow so it must be cleaning something. That doesn't directly answer your question, but the washes have proved helpful to me.

Soda washing the nap before the freeze with clear out some of the yellow staining.
It will result in whiter xtals... BUT... I cannot be sure if it washes out any desirable molecule...that is why I prefer to pull ALL the products out of bark...
A carefully done re-x with drop out any waxes etc that do not like being in a non polar solvent leaving what is Desired.

Thanks for the response!

I will do only Re-X from now on and no mgso4- and baking soda washing.
It will save me time and goodies :)

Thanks! I associated whiter crystals with "better" DMT, but that is being ignorant to the full spectrum what the bark has to offer. I'd much prefer a better experience than shooting for aesthetics. I'll have to try skipping that and doing a good re-x with some new batches. I'm just a little worried about the lye, a quick google search tells me that it stays dissolved in a non polar solvent :!:

Well to make it the crystal white you can use chaircoal
