Noman Tek Question

Migrated topic.

So after reviewing the Noman Tek, I came to a realization. Of course we arent using any acids in this tek and we go straight to adding the lye. In a standard A/B tek, we extract the spice into the water/acid mixture, then filter and deal with the liquids. In Noman's Tek we are putting the base into a mixture of the rootbark and water. So my question is, what prevents the naptha from pulling up a lot of crud from the actual bark? The bark powder will come in to contact with the naptha and I can't help but wonder what else besides the spice is going to stay there. WIth an A/B extraction, we at least filter the bark and try to poor off everything BUT the sludge. Am I missing something here?

I asked my friend who uses a very close variation of the noman tek and this is what he told me: "The powdered rootbark becomes part of the base solution, which is water based. The rootbark almost dissolves if you leave it in there long enough. But anyway, the naptha is oil based. And if you've ever made salad dressing, you know that oil and water don't stay mixed very well, and all the oregano and whatever other chunk of spices stay down in the water part as your oil rises to the top."
