Outdoor Psilocybe cubensis in northern climates

Anyone do this? I started taking my substrates after 3 flushes and mixing them up with some more straw to fruit outdoors in pots of Phalaris arundinacea and aquatica.

Summer only of course.

PE6 just beginning…and some dry harvest before they went out.

Yeah I always get a few more flushes out of them as long as I add some new straw. I think they also like being outside in the open air cased with soil.

Nothing new…people have been doing it forever on shroomery etc.

We have tons of insects…mostly out of control slugs and deer. It is what it is. The slugs have been a big issue with the cacti and it’s ongoing. It was a huge setback in growth last season as they tend to go for the terminal buds. I can’t believe how much San Pedro a slug can eat. Everything food related has to have deer nets but they tend to leave my psychedelics alone.

First time with this strain however..in the past I’ve used golden teachers with a lot of success. Maybe some will do better out in the open than others.

Did another one yesterday…I’m sure everyone here knows how to bust up a substrate and mix straw..added some coir this time.

I just remove some top soil and fill with substrate and cover it back up.

Yes, but never with straw, we were always adding mixture of aged horse manure, some normal soil and coco coir.
I really liked how more natural mushroom fruit looked like outdoors, but it's too much work and risk of eating it by slugs.
It's was easier for me to maximize the output while indoors.

I’ve seen ppl at the shroomery doing them in the ground. I do them in pots…it’s easier to move them from bugs etc. I started moving them onto gravel at night to keep the slugs away.

Maybe I will try some old substrate next week in the vegetable garden. Slugs will for sure eat it though.
