Outdoor 🌤️

JungleGhost

Nocturnal Scavenger
Anyone have experience with cultivating any psilocybes outdoors? Have been trying things for awhile And think I'm starting to succeed...

what agurcultural zone are you in ... i;m in U.S. AG zone #5 , you must be in a warmer climate .or southern hemipher

Trying to come up with something to deter the squirrels/birds. They're hell bent on stealing grains. Only thing I've got to work is a cage type thing over top but I want something less noticeable..

Maybe something like chicken wire, placed flat and firmly fixed to the ground. The animals won't be able to dig the grains and the mushrooms have no problem growing through it. You might have to deal with slugs when the mushrooms start growing.

Outdoor cubes yeah…but I start from spore indoor and just spawn to bulk outdoor in like June PNW so zone 8b to 9a typically but I also did it once in a zone 5ish summer with great results.

Are you trying to dump grain directly into the ground?
Seems like you'd be better off fruiting trays of castings/coir and then burying them after. Won't be enough grain left to attract the squirrels.
Though admittedly at that point it's more fertilizer with bonus fruits than a pure cultivation play so it depends on your goals/intentions.
If you really just want to run them outdoors, combine sakk and jamie's ideas, run grain, mix with your bulk (casting/coir or fave blend), and bury that under chicken wire. You should be able to keep the grain ratio low enough that between that and the chicken wire the tree rats will give up.

Do Squirrels trip? Have you tried communicating while you are both under the influence? :p
Im bet they do, it is active myc...

I never see them, only their aftermath. I've been trying out spots with contamd jars to see how they'd work out. Thinking by summer I will be patching up properly....
