After quidding plain leaves, quidding with alcohol, playing with cornstarch extracts, and even trying to inhibit the enzymes responsible for breaking down salvinorin A in the digestive tract, I think I’ve landed on my favorite oral administration method. It’s still somewhat unpleasant, though significantly faster and more palatable than quidding.
Mix 75% alcohol and fresh leaves (~4oz to 25g was my most recent? I eyeballed it—maybe 50 small leaves and a heavy pour), shake a few times every day for three days.
Once ready: take a small sip and hold under your tongue, endure the burn until your salivary glands dilute it, swish for ~10 minutes, swallow, do this repeatedly until just below the threshold you wish to achieve. You will likely blast past the comfort zone, but the full peak is short lived (10-15 minutes).
Ascent generally begins within ~15-20 minutes. The further you are trying to go the longer it’ll take to reach the peak. Swallowed extract surprisingly comes back for a weak plateau after ~30-45 minutes. After swishing sips for 45 minutes you’d probably start to experience an exponential boost. I plan on getting there once I’m emotionally prepared.
As per usual when it comes to psychedelics, a small amount of THC intensifies the experience.
I still don’t understand why swallowing salvia with alcohol makes it subtly active in the stomach. Does alcohol inhibit the enzymes which break down salvinorin A into salvinorin B? CES-1 is supposedly responsible, but I had no luck trying to make “salviahuasca” with substances that inhibit CES-1.
Aside from dilating blood vessels and salivary glands, why does alcohol have such a strong synergy with salvia? I know both act on KOR, but aside from that I’m still perplexed. Drink responsibly, or you can probably spit out the alcohol if you don’t wish to feel buzzed after.
