phenethylamine from cacti question

I am aware that there are differences in solvents but can xylol/xylene be subsituted by naphtha in a phen/mescaline extraction? Everyone seems to think this common solvent is easy to find anywhere but I've looked high and low for years and have only found "100%xylol" which contains ethyl benzene and it leaves a bubbly residue that resembles quick dried un-formed DMT. Sorta like "100% grated parmesian cheese" where the cheese is adulterated to the max if you read the ingredients, but it most definitly is 100% grated. Sodium Hydroxide is another "common" chemical I've had diffuculty locating I just recentlly found 1 store in a city of millions that sells 100% sodium hydroxide, brand name "ROOTO", other than that I've seen one store out in the desert that thad red devil lye99% sodium hydroxide, and a few various drain opener solutions stating they contain sodium hydroxide and water. Anyway thanks.

if i recall correctly, mescaline can be precipitated from xylene by titration to neutral pH with 3% H2SO4 followed by cooling. there is no need to evaporate the xylene. but you can fractionate it before use if you really want to.

Lye has gotten hard to find because Red Devil went out of business a year or so ago. Look for soapmaking supply places.
