"Pineal Gland" by Ab-Soul

Migrated topic.
Two white cups full of codeine
Plus I got two white sluts down to blow me
Can't you see I'm floating, like root beer and ice cream
My synapses act like lightning, probably why I'm so enlightening
Probably why these niggas can't fuck with me
what is this i don't even.

Yeah that's horrible:lol:

I'm all for creative expression and the drive to articulate the experience. Personally, I hate any mention of sluts (or anything cheap and derogatory) in the same breath as DMT, but I guess his experience isn't my experience. That's all I can really say.

Well, that, and he might want to find a more efficient delivery system than blunts.

I agree the misogynistic and frankly just foolish way he expresses himself is troubling, but just be aware that people who aren't in the know will be listening to this as well. The album it is on is the 5th most downloaded for rap in itunes this week.

I do have a weak spot for hip-hop, which is probably not good for my emotional well-being, but there is some allure in the window to a life that I will never have- being underprivileged, undereducated, and black in a deeply racist country. I see it as a way to understand people, but the issue is when the music becomes self-fulfilling- rappers speak violently or misogynistic-ly and so the culture is primed to act in this way. The prediction or description becomes the result.

Also, I don't think he ever specifies his delivery system Art.

Much love to all of you for listening and sharing your thoughts!

Hip Hop is good for the soul, this is just very bad hip hop.

Good Hip Hop now comes from the underground, MTV killed Hip Hop.

Personally I find the mix of DMT and such music a bit of a mismatch, but good luck for the future.
I'd have to disagree...

[V1 - NATTI]

I'm cloaked in smoke, but feel no flames
folks float around me, but I see no wings
no halos or hounds, pitchforks or gates
or omnipotent voice that picks course of fate
did a life of indecision build a dream scape prison
where light isn't manufactured, but captured inside a prism?
in a state between sleep and awake
feels closest to hypnosis with an infinite wake
then a fog dissipates revealing crimson fields
Crept on by a fawn with flaming heels
eyes red as stop signs with a mane of quills
as I gaze past hills of diamond trees
I see a silhouette rest upon golden leaves
with the body of a goddess and a face of dreams
a half naked Meagan Good in a Pagan hood
kissed me on the cheek we didn't speak, but I understood
it wasn't Heaven that I was seeking, but a haven I sought
a canvas of the mind painted with my thoughts

[V2 - KNO]

Everything ain't what it seems
I wake up to find I'm inside of a dream this side of a dream
See buried deep inside the seams of my screams
are beings and other-worldly things rarely seen
Might be psychosis or maybe i chose this
the night approaches every time the eye closes
See a burning bush, feel like I'm Moses
Burn so much Kush I feel like Amosis
All my images are morgues and moons
and every fork in the road moves through Freud and Jung
In the darkness no orchard blooms
a state so dark sparks from torches consumed
It's like I live in a fortress of doom
in the forest where the blood pours with force from my wounds
My body aches with this labotamy a part of me shakes
open my eyes and awake

Snozzle, Oneirology is an amazing album. Thanks for reminding me!

I'm with you there. Nowadays you need to be careful what you choose to put into your mind.

A truly great project is Doom by Mood though.

DJ Hi-Tek is a great producer.

while smoking a blunt he tells noone in particular to not tell his mother that the contents of his blunt, are in fact, not weed.

i'm no master of subtlety (and some[me] might argue neither is ab-soul) but that would seem to indicate at least some of the contents of said blunt was DMT.

But why do you assume it's a blunt? Couldn't it be a joint?

He only makes a reference to rolling up weed.
He might be vaping with a Glass Vapor Genie while drinking ayahuasca with a suppository and an IV drip for all we know.
