Please help, Why does my extraction look so bad

This is my first time extracting. I used 600 ml water with 100 grams mhrb and NaOH. After freeze precipitating this is what I got.

After the second time shaking the naphtha with everything, it looked red like this, rather than yellow. Did I shake it to hard, could that be the reason?

Some people are suggesting that a Re X will do the trick, but I feel like this stuff is so bad it'll disappear with a Re-x.. I mean the stuff almost turns into oil upon touching it. Has anyone had their extraction turn out like this? And do you think its even worth a Re X?

im thinking of just throwing it all out and starting the process from a fresh start, but I don't want the same thing to happen.. Does anyone have any ideas on how it did? I basically followed Belove's videos on STB with naphtha if anyone has seen him.

And is it possible I got some kinda jungle spice rather than a completely failed extraction? What I'm asking is, is it possible what I got is even safe to vape?

i have no idea what happened to give you that result but throwing it away is silly, don't do that. Re-x it and see what happens.

next time I would advise you use the cyb salt tek, it proven to work well with good yields.

Does timing play a role in your results?

Last time I let the water/lye/mhrb sit for about 30 hours. Then I heated up solution to 120-150 and added naphtha. shook around, waited for the naphtha to separate than repeat until i did 3 shakes. then I separated naphtha and i got that orange wax paste stuff lol. anybody spot any errors in that?

Use a 1:15 ratio ,100 gr bark =1.5 liters of water

So this next time I'll follow your tek. Probably wait around 10 hours before I add naphtha.
So last time I put my entire solution in a hot water bath starting right before I added the naphtha, to when pulled the naphtha out.
Are you suggesting that I put the naphtha in a hot water bath before putting it in the mix, and only heating the mix before shaking?

Sorry for so many questions, I just feel like I wasted a bit of dmt, and I don't wish to waste any more!

And thanks GMM I'll be sure to add more water next time as well. Although this time I think I'm only gonna attempt 50 grams instead of 100.

Looks like the naphtha pulled a lot of oils, tannins and plant matter, probably due to overheating a too concentrated naphtha/rb solution, as mentioned above. Don't toss the solution or the pull, nothings been lost, the loids are still extractable, whether in the bark or crude extract.

Besides Re-x, you can perhaps still apply Cybs salt tek to the original STB solution, as a learning experience. Dissovle 75g salt into enough filtered water to increase STB solution volume to 1.5l Add solvent, shake it up. (Some folk then drop it in a bucket of hot tap water, plastic bag over the top, wrapped in a dry towl, stand 24hours, then pull.)

as long as your positive you had no base mixture in your naphtha, that product is probably still good to consume.

a re-x would make it more pretty, but i would guess you just got a more full-spectrum product than typical, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, though perhaps not as aesthetically pleasing.

but yea the heat probably just made you pull more plant fats - i highly doubt the naphtha would pull anything harmful.

you might have got some jungle spice in there somehow, even though that is atypical for an aliphatic solvent.

EDIT: looking at that paper more, it says that DMT was pulled out of jungle spice/DMT mixtures (thus isolating jungle spice) with HOT naphtha. so maybe it is unlikely you pulled any of that.

however i will say my limonene also turned red after vigorous mixing (no heat) - but i do not know how aromatic solvents correlate to aliphatics

I've extracted a product very similar to the one in the first picture and although it's not as pretty as pure white crystals it's still very active. If you're sure there's no base solution in the final product it should be safe to try.

Cool thanks for the suggestion! I will be sure to keep the STB mix, and attempt that when I run out of root bark.

Once again, thanks a lot for suggesting cyb's tek, I'm definitely liking the step by step pictorial. I'll be starting that tomorrow.. I can feel it being a success!

I went ahead and decided to listen to your guys' belief that its safe to consume. I tried 30 mg for my first time. What an amazing experience! I chose this song,

and Everything seemed to play out perfectly, I recommend someone give that one a try sometime.

Mate, that's dmt.
Its dirty from a multitude of possible reasons but trust me I can tell thats probably 90% dmt.
You want clean xtals? Heat the crude dmt in a glass with hot water bath, heat a solvent like naptha or heptane in a separate glass and combine hot solvent and melted dmt into a small shot glass. swirl the glass to create a vortex and the heavy contaminates will form a blob in the center of the vortex. Quickly but carefully pour off the clear solvent leaving the good ball in the glass, evap. Voila pure dmt freebase.

This shit just happens sometimes. I just had an extract crash out crystal clear dmt in the first pull then produce way dirtier dmt than you have the second pull. I didnt change a thing other then air temp.
I've had extractions be a pain in the ass but you can always end up with clean freebase you just may have to clean in a few times.
It may not always be pretty but it don't mean its not gonna launch you into another dimension.
