Powdery brown lumps next to mescaline.hcl crystals!?

I have just performed my first mescaline extraction (A/B with a pressure cooker, vinegar, NaOH, d-limonene and HCl), but have messed up a few things along the way.

1st mistake was to let my cactus juice burn when boiling it down
2nd mistake made was to evaporate my hcl salting completely on a pot of boiling water (au bain marie). This resulted in black crystals.

To clear up my black extract I decide to perform a mini A/B. This went well and resulted in some nice crystals. The petri dish I used for evaporation has some brown powdery balls clinging to its sides. What could this be?

Hard to say what it is. You can always try to clean it up by doing cold dry acetone or IPA wash or re a/b again but you should already be fine if your chems are clean

What was your yield in the end?

Black mescaline in my experience has been from too much HCl, and indeed a mini a/b has been the best way to clean it.

I have anhydrous aceton and IPA in my freezer, so I might give that a go. I'm still wondering whether I should keep all of the alkaloids together.

The extract I have now looks a lot better than the black stuff. It weighs 0.55 grams. I might be able to get a little more from further pulls but for a first mescaline extraction I'm quite chuffed with the result :roll:

If you decide to wash, use just a bit of the solvent, and save it, in case for some reason you lose too much yield. But a proper quick cold dry wash or just consuming it as is should both be fine, considering you did it all right

very nice! what was the initial material you've started from? was it pedro bridgesii or peruvianus? what was the weight of the flesh? :roll:

I made a tea from 1kg fresh of a 6.5 year old cactus (bought as a t.peruvianus), which resulted in 500ml of syrup.

I drank 70ml to test it. That was my first experience with mescaline. I got threshold effects for about 8 hours.

I then drank 200ml, which was a fairly intense trip. Great body high. I felt like the clock in one of Salvador Dali's paintings (The Persistence of Memory) as I sank into my couch and bed. The visuals were great but a bit blurry. I got more than I was expecting and must do it again to explore further. I was also quite aroused and made love to my wife (who was sober) very intimately :d

The remaining syrup was used for the extraction.
