Hi,
Its been quite while since the last time I had tea, mainly for the harsh experience involved in drinking it. Back then the tea prepared was from dry outer flesh pulverized and filtered with cloth after several cycles of decoction… The material ingested was quite dense and green.
A friend requested for his first experience to do the real thing, that is: Tea. So I am making tea but this time I am using full chips with out grinding and a PC . 3x1hr cycles will be performed and the only filtering done will be a common stainer. I added 2 lemons (their juice) to the second cycle. All the liquid will be reduced in a pan. 33grams of Icaro is being used for each person (a material that commonly renders 1.5%).
So far the liquid looks far more drinkable as it is not so dense, the color is brown.

For me this kind of preparation seems closer to the local preparation in Peru, except for the PC and that they use fresh material.

When I was using those same chips, (and maybe my preparation method wasn't the best), 33 grams would do barely anything to me. I would probably blend before the last pull to make sure you get all the goodies, then filter well and decant to get any leftover sediment to fall to the bottom.

I've never used chips, only fresh material and powder. The powdered stuff was hard to filter and had to be repeatedly boiled before the emulsion broke.

PC'ing the material for an hour is probably overkill. I usually PC at 15psi for 15mins and repeat three times. From what I've read, its better to do MORE boils, for LESS time.

I then strain thru a 60%cotton/40%polyester cloth and reduce to a light syrup consistency. That way you only have to consume a few tablespoons of nasty syrup, instead of a whole cup of nasty tea.

I also let my syrup sit for a week or two and settle out. There will be a fine layer of plant material on the bottom and the syrup will be dark brown, but clear. Decant the syrup and leave behind the crap layer.

Good luck:thumb_up: Theres something extra magical about making pedro syrup. I feel its a fuller experience than extracted mescaline.

nice: with first timers involved I rather be conservative, Im taking some acetate (just in case)
Bezercher: yeah I know I just wanted to make sure EVERYTHING got extracted.
So guys Medicine is ready, got 500ml to be divided with 4 souls. Send us good vibes , Saturday we will be here in communion with the Sun The Earth and Water.Central Spain.

Well done. Both in preparation of the sacrament, and the decision of the location.

I once sat atop a volcanic rock mound overlooking an alpine lake and the large basin surrounding it, including several small streams that drained into the upper part of the lake, basically a swamp/flooded meadow, and drank some bridgesii tea. Granted it was high in the sierra nevadas on the other side of the world, and more of an alpine rather than high desert region, but still a great place to trip from what i see 8).

A very interesting, and cleansing experience.

Mescaline, taken where one has room to sit back and take in all that natural beauty, is a well chosen use of the cacti medicine.

Good luck on your journey :)

~(wish we had a dancing cactus emoticon like myco lol)~

~peace~

Very few bad trips are reported with mescaline. Usually just the usual problems of nausea or weak effects. Your friends are in for a real treat.

Give us a TR when you get back. I've heard lots of good things about Icaros cactus.

can a mod please remove all vendor discussion from this thread?
please!
I cant see a vendor discussion here... maybe a reference to a type of cactus (or a name given by a vendor to a certain cactus...)
But for instance should I avoid talking about my germinated ......? Just because It makes reference to an origin?

I thought it was a lot, but if you had success, that's interesting.
Did you perform a preboil until the foaming stopped ?

I did a preboil of about 15 mins, not much foam though.
I did not notice any degradation, but maybe 1x3 is more than needed.Maybe 2x30mins + a 1hr third boil next time.An other conclusion is that PC tea seems ideal for extraction, as other threads indicate. For this I would strain with a coffee strainer (cloth) before reducing.

No, there is no talk of vendors selling dried plants. Talk of vendors selling viable seed and live plants is allowed. Any references in this thread to dy chips from vendors etc should be removed.

Did you feel the PC brew was less bitter, well, more comfortable to drink than another "traditional" brew ?
No, the bitterness (mescaline) is there all the way, hard to drink if you ask me...
we did drink 125 ml each which is not much but I would reduce more next time, maybe 75ml which i think would be still liquid.First timers drank it easier than me...

Sorry I dont want to be a pain but Icaro is not a vendor, its the name given by a vendor to a plant.Do you want me to name the website's name and even the vendor´s name? because its not Icaro, Icaro is the name of his product.I did remove the word (Icaro) that was making some people inconfortable from my first post just because I think its quite irrelevant anyway.
Moderators, If I am wrong please remove this post, because I am saying the word ICARO.

So no grinding or blending then? Just whole chips?
chips buddy... works like a charm and FAR less work.Think about it, this medicine is prepared in slices or pieces in boiling water by locals. The chips just get rehydrated.
