So swim have wanted to try out this basic Ethanol extraction with Psilocybe Cubensis mushrooms, but he is afraid of oxidation of psilocybin. So what would you guys think about extracting X-amount of PC's with X-amount of Ethanol and adding X-amount of honey to the Ethanol mix and evaporate that out with low heat bath, to make it faster process and in swims mind that honey would protect those alkaloids from oxidation?

Does this make any sense for people? :?

Then add that honey in gel caps or just make chocolates out of it or just scoop out honey..

One option is to purchase some pure vitamin c (ascorbic acid) and add to the ethanol when soaking, which might help preventing oxidation.

Last time I did 2x ethanol soaks on dried powdered shrooms, evaporated till around 1ml per gram with a fan, but I havent tried it yet to know how well it worked.

Others in the forum with experience probably posted around, do a search, otherwise maybe one of them posts here their thoughts.

Ethanol is a great preservative, it works fine all on it's own, no need to add anything, just soak the mushrooms in the booze for a couple weeks to several months and filter out the biomass.

A touch of ascorbic or citric acid doesn't hurt, but it's not necessary. It's really more important in water based extracts, as I said ethanol is preservative in and of itself.

Honey is also a fine preservative and blue honey is quite a delicious way to take the medicine.

I would recommend to use either or, but not both, unless your goal is a mead-like honey liquor, in which case I would simply dissolve an already made blue honey into the ethanol.

Also please don't use heat to evaporate ethanol, that is asking for trouble. Just put it under a fan, it evaps just fine that way and quite quickly, and you don't risk burning your house down.

Be safe now
