Q21Q21 Ingredients Check

Migrated topic.

Hi all,

I posted this in the Q21Q21 Vinegar and Lime tek thread but haven't had a response. Can anyone confirm if these are suitable ingredients for the extraction? I've heard of a few people using the wrong type of lime or vinegar.

Asda Distilled Vinegar: The label on the vinegar doesn't say the acidity content.

B&Q Garden Lime

Thanks.

The vinegar should work most likely if its white vinegar...but the garden lime im not sure about...i just looked it up and i couldn't find anything on it being calcium hydroxide so it might be calcium carbonate

But who knows...call a garden store and ask them i guess

And don't use too much water when doing the tek...i did and my naphtha didnt seperate but it turned into one blob...i had to let it dry and put into NaOH water to save it and it yielded in the end

But it looked like this only 5mins after i added the naphtha

OK, thanks for your reply. I think it'd be less hassle to just get lime that I know is calcium hydroxide for sure rather than waste time doing the tek with the wrong lime.

I bought gardening lime for my last extraction attempt thinking it was the same and it wasn't. My extraction failed quite miserably. The bag I bought had a few other ingrediants in it as well so that couldve been the case but after double checking, the composition wasn't the same. So it won't work. I just bought a bag last week from the link q21q21 posted in his tek as it is confirmed to work. So get that.
