Racetams

Migrated topic.

Rising Star
I'm not sure if this the right place to discuss this, but is anyone else here interested in racetams? I currently take piracetam with choline citrate twice daily and can see honest improvement in my cognition and recall. Other interesting effects it gives are making xanthines sedating, I had a twenty oz cup of green tea at a cafe followed by 8 oz of coffee at an Arby's about an hour later and it completely over ran my brain, by the time me and my friends got to the bowling I felt so completely drained and withdrawn, the thing is though it was pleasant. Yerba Mate also makes me a little sleepy now but the primary changes in effects are a tremendous sharpening of vision into in almost cannabis style effects and a feeling of pressure being removed from my head, making my head have the feeling that it is swirling with blood engorged and healthy.
I have yet to try any hallucinogens while on this mainly due to being busy with school. I will however hopefully be brewing ayahuasca to the first vacation week I get. I will make sure to report how that works out for me. No non-xanthine stimulants have entered my body, no depressants or anything of the like. In fact there was a good party going with alcohol and one of my buddies had LSD which normally I would be there in a heart beat but instead I opted to stay home work on my website, listen to music, sit in my yard and check my plants and play some video games. I apologize for the poor syntax of this post but I did not quite know where to start and where to end but basically, does anyone else take racetams? I think piracetam is great and am looking to start taking aniracetam and pramiracetam.

I've just started taking racetams again, this time, piracetam and centrophenoxine for choline.... to be honest I'm not expecting too much, because I did once do oxiracetam for 3 months and it was unremarkable... a lot of these nutritional supplements are snake oil you look at the articles and all of them are selling something.... piracetam seems to get the most discussion so I believe it probably is effective in some sense, I'm curious, I'm not sure about the other racetams, I'm not even sure what effect there is, I have noticed this brain fog alleviation that is written about, but such a thing could easily be placebo....I'm sceptical about the choline too because that could easily be some b.s. sales add-on... I haven't read about it anywhere reputable... hey 1992, how close to baseline are your effects? any tips for usage?

I have read about piracetam having unexpected synergistic effects, unfortunately I'm not even sure how to treat that because of course with pyschadelics you often don't know what to expect anyway..so I can't read trip reports seriously, but who knows.... one thing I would be cautious of is the MAO effect from some of these things, I have read that centrophenoxine is an MAO for example, but that's not written on it, and then of course, I wonder does it even matter... I'm gonna try these for a while and if have real noticeable effects I'll continue otherwise I doubt I'll give racetams anymore consideration.

also I've got hydergine as well, and again, I have no idea about it really, could be useless, but I'll be honest, irrationally I'm curious about it just because it is an ergoloid invented by albert hoffman and supposedly he took it every day and he lived to 102 right?

I've used two different racetams in the past. The only one that I have ever noticed a positive change with is piracetam. 1 teaspoon full 2x a day (like 2-4grams total/day).

Memory function is greatly improved, so much so that my wife can tell when I am taking it and when I've stopped.

I do notice that the effects really don't kick in for 4-5 days, sometimes up to a week, and that they linger for a few days after taking the last dose.

Another thing that I've noticed is that when I'm on piracetam it seriously potentiates phenethlyamines (MDMA, Mesclaine, 2C-X, etc). There is mild potentiation of tryptamines, but phens really get the boost. It also is very helpful for comedowns off of MDXX's and bk-MXXX's.

I don't take anything with it, just piracetam....

Well, to be honest I notice no real effects as far as change of headspace goes while I'm on it. I definitely notice a huge improvement in recall though. As far as the choline goes, it may or may not be useless... its cheap and certainly not bad for you so I will continue to take it. The main indicator that things are happening up in my brain is if I take it without eating something sugary like an apple I get drained super fast but if I can get some carbs and sugars in things pick up and its rather obvious. As acolon said it takes a while to set in. Full effects for me took about 2 weeks and they still seem to be improving slightly. Next I wish to try pramiracetam. As far as choline sources go choline is super abundant and things like alpha-gpc are just to make extra money if anyone is interested in buying such products.

I personally found a dramatic improvement in my memory and general cognitive function with piracetam... For me it is really an amazing compound. The benefits it produces and the synergistic poteniation with phenethlyamines and psychedelics is wonderful. The clarity and physiological changes I could feel within my brain over a long period of time are indescribable... it is gradual and subtle mind you, but definitely noticeable.

I strongly recommend everyone try it.

Sadly it is scheduled where I live and has proven difficult to import lately...

I really dont understand how our self appointed overseers can try to prevent us from consuming a substance that has NO side effects and SO MANY positive attributes.... aaaaaaarg!!!... I wont get started on this subjet it frustrates me to no end....

Wow, this is scheduled where you live. Like as a medicine, or like scheduled drugs like heroin?

Either way, that's really not acceptable. Something as benign as piracetam, that has had 30 years of studies done on it, has no LD50 they are aware of, and can combat alzhimers, brain damage from stroke, and generally is thought to be healthy for brain functions, should not be kept away from the public. It is truly sad to hear my friend.

Goverments around the world really need to stop "protecting the public from themselves". It's more about control than protection.

yeah that is surprising, I believe it is actually prescription only in the UK, but I can't confirm that... I have been noticing an increase in my core temperature (subjectively, like low dose lsd), and it feels good... actually being a scheduled drug may be some indication of its efficacy... yeah, I agree with the madness of drug control.... I really do feel a turning point is coming soon with substance control, the whole situation with research chemicals makes the whole idea of substance control hazy because all the controls do is encourage more chemical alterations and to make the matter worse, customs can only test the well known substances and you've got to think the governments would prefer less RC usage over established drugs... healthcare is being re-evaluated too, I think a whole new approach is required and it has to involve personal responsibility, I think if substances were part of the free market we'd all be able to make much better decisions and the products would get better too (safer, more effective for recreational uses, etc., obviously less crime)... I know this is tired debate, but even I'm surprised how quickly RC's are spreading... it's a story waiting to happen.

^ Quite right.

I thought I was the only kid on the block that knew about RC's but apparently they are becoming quite well known. Sure they can ban them, but a new crop will pop up as soon as they do.

Yeah the debate it tired, esp when we're preaching to the coverted, but it is still a debate that must be had on congressional floors, in parliment, just about everywhere.

The way things are going now, more dangerous drugs are openly available online while safer, well studied drugs are being confiscated, driving up black market prices, and making purity stuff and contaminants common.

I couldn't make any estimations, but yeah, in the UK, RC usage seems to be rising exponentially, of course a lot of the analogs are still legal... but as you said what are they gonna do? ban every new substance and create a new set of controls for each one, it's impossible... people ordering prescription drugs introduces another twist... and of course there is alcolhol and tobacco which need to be treated for what they actually are... in my view (and it's counter to my profession), people have become empowered enough to handle their own general practices, if you go to a doctors appointment these days, they usually reference web databases for symptoms and essentially experiment with treatments and tests... we could do much of this ourselves... I had the idea once that maybe people could get licenses (similar to driving licenses) which allow them to prescribe their own treatments, plus check themselves in for tests, you may have to pay for it, but because it's DIY, the whole thing should be much cheaper... if the individuals abuses the right, they lose their license (or get points, or whatever).... I mean why don't have the right to treat myself? I can represent myself in court... ya know? I'm sure there is some horrible consequence I haven't thought of, but something needs to be done... the whole situation is a fucking mess... actually I'm really concerned about kids doing RC's.. look at that 2CB-Fly story in NL.

Oh when I talked about prescribing your own treatments, that includes recreational stuff, that's effectively what happens with alchohol and cigs now. My thought being you could treat alcohol and cigarettes the same way, that way you could control alcoholism to some extent and encourage personal responsibility as much as possible.

I have to agree 100 percent with you on this Acolon_5. The potential for potentiating tryptamines are certainly there with the potentiality reaching an odd number. Far to strange for me to even calculate. Basically the old saying "If it feels good" doesn't and shouldn't apply to this with all this numerical/chemical jargon is left somewhere on the left side of space. and forgotten. Potential? potentate.

ps. Potential.
