The WTF Psychedelic "Uh Oh, Spaghettio's" Dish of Awesomeness!

-Cook up some quinoa. Toss in some tumeric and cayenne pepper. A dash of toasted sesame oil if you wish. Maybe some salt and other curry spices. You can add chopped garlic to this as well.
-Next, heat up some roasted red pepper soup (Let's be lazy and pour it out of the carton, eh?)
-Add fresh garlic and cook until satisfactory.
-Combine the quinoa and the soup and grind a ton of fresh black pepper on top. Chop cilantro, add on top. Serve the psychedelojellohead.

The appearance and texture reminded me of that silly Spaghetti-o's stuff I used to eat as a kid, except way more delicious and healthy 😉

Soothing Lentil Soup

Seriously, this soup is magical. If you feel a little down, you have catch the cold, or you just want some extra energy, follow this recipe!

1 large yellow onion or 3-6 shallots
A half to a whole garlic
Two pinches of cumin seeds
Two pinches of coriander seeds
2 carrots
2 celery sticks
(1 box of tomatoes)
1 l water
2-3 dl red lentils
One pinch of chili powder
One pinch of cumin powder
One pinch of paprika powder
One or two pinches of turmeric
One bay leaf
A suiting amount of vegetable stock/broth
(A pinch or two of salt, taste your way!)
(Some fresh parsley)

1. Fry the onions with oil in a large pot until done. Add cumin seeds, coriander seeds and garlic and let it fry for another minute or so while stirring.
2. Add all the remaining ingredients, except salt. Allow it to gently cook for about 20 minutes under a lid.
3. Remove the bay leaf and blend about half of the soup. Don't overdo it, you still want some whole pieces in the soup. Taste and add salt if needed.
4. Sprinkle some fresh parsley on the top. Bon Appétit! :)

damn lol so complicated.

found that eating really plain food for a few days, like plain rice or plain buckwheat or plain baby spinach can really make one appreciate taste of well-prepared food.

Cooking rice with carrots and nuts and other stuff sounds good though Ill try that. Cashews and walnuts :)

Let's Revive this Thread:

Traditional, Scratch Ingredient, Mom-Style Apple Pie:

CRUST:

2 Cups flour, sifted
1 tsp Salt (less if desired)
3/4 cup vegetable shortening
5-6 TBSP cold water.

First, combine all the dry ingredients. Then add the shortening and water. Combine aggressively with two knives or your hand (you want a coarse, yet coherent meal like consistency). Shape into a ball, wrap up and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Once the dough is ready for use, using a rolling pin, roll out one third to one half of the whole on a clean surface. Roll it out fairly thin. The size of your sheet of dough must exceed the size of the pie pan significantly.

Lay this sheet of dough on top of your pie pan. Do not trim - just leave the excess on the outside of the pan for now.

FILLING:

6-7 cups Granny Smith apples, sliced, cored, peeled and cut into pieces.
Place apples into a large pan.

Combine Separately:
3/4 cup sugar (less if desired)
1 TBSP flour
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt (if desired)

Mix (toss) these dry ingredients through the apples. Now heat the apples in the pan. Dot them with 2 TBSP of butter. Let everything heat up on medium heat until all the sugar/butter is melted and all spices have gone into solution and everything is evenly distributed over apples. Mix constantly. It's ready when it smells like Heaven.

Lay this mixture onto the bottom pie crust (already in pan). Now roll out the top crust with remaining dough and lay this new dough sheet on top of the pie filling. Seal together by pressing hard against edge of pie tin with a fork. Cut away excess dough.

Now cut some vents in the top. Moisten the top (spray bottle) and sprinkle very lightly with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon then again with just cinnamon.

Now, lay a huge sheet of foil or something protective down in your oven underneath the pie. This protective sheet should have edges folded up so that it can catch pie drippings that escape and boil over.

Bake at 425 degress F for about 30 mins. Check it. The top crust probably looks done now but the pie filling needs more time. Cut a doughnut/ring shape out of foil and place this on top of the pie at this time, with the shiny side UP. Bake for another 20 mins.

Pie is done when crust is brown and apples are tender.

Enjoy!

Sayur lodeh.

A traditional indonesian dish of vegetables. It´s something in between a soup with many vegetables in it, or a dish of vegetables with with lot´s of watery sauce. There are many variations of it. This is a vegetarian version.

-Grind some garlic, onions and fresh peppers along with some fresh koriander, cardamom, turmeric, anise and (optional, very tasty but probably not available everywhere) indonesian petehbeans, kemerinuts and salamleaves..
-Sweat them mildly in butter or oil (no 'tasty' stuff like olive oil).
-Add broth made of vegetables or use some instant stuff and vegetables(you can use almost any vegetable).
-After a few minutes boiling with the lid on, add some santen..indonesian instant coconut milk.
-stir a few more minutes.

And ready...selamat makan: have a nice meal.
