Well, Im not sure if im supposed to speak for my monkey or not, but he got pretty confused tonight, he reduced 600ML of mhrb aya, down to about 3/4 of a coffee cup, at which point he added unflavored gelatin to pull out the tannins.

at this point the liquid got extremely cloudy, and clumps of black goo stuck to the bottom of the pan.

the resulting liquid strained off and filtered through coffee filter looks similar to this.

Is this normal to be so cloudy? did he just add too much gelatin?

was it reduced too much?

What is the ph of this brew? Should be less than 6. That cloudy colour is normal if you add a little too much gelatin.

You should try reduce it further. As it reduces the gelatin will bind with the tannins, causing a film to form on top of the brew. Remove it at regular intervals. It should clear up.
