This is the report of my friend's attempt to use turmeric extract as a potentiator of DMT.
Procedure with results: He took 112 grams of dried powdered turmeric and added room temperature naphtha until the naphtha was twice as high in the container as the turmeric. He immersed the extraction vessel in a hot water bath at ~95 degrees Celsius. The mixture was stirred for 7-10 minutes with a metal spoon while remaining in the hot water bath.
A turkey baster was used to draw the naphtha off the top. This stirred up some of the turmeric, which was allowed to settle as much as reasonably possible. However, some turmeric powder ended up in the evaporation container. The extraction was repeated with a new hot water bath and more naphtha, and the combined organic layer was evaporated with a fan. The next day, the naphtha appeared to be completely evaporated -- it couldn't be smelled at all. However, my friend still spent about 15 minutes blowing the remaining oily substance across the evaporation surface with a blow drier on maximum heat and fan speed.
This oily mixture, which was presumed to be virtually devoid of naphtha because no volume decrease was observed during the blow drying, was mixed with approximately 1/4 cup of olive oil. The olive oil was divided into 2 portions, with one portion slightly larger than the other. 1/2 tbsp of preground black pepper was added to each portion. The larger portion was given to my friend's friend, whom we'll call Demetrius. Demetrius is a normal weight/height male of approx 20 yoa. Demetrius added about 1 cup tap water to the mixture, stirred it up, and drank it. He reported that it was very difficult to get the mixture down due to the horrific taste.
My friend took the smaller portion, being about 35 pounds lighter than Demetrius, and he added 1/4 cup tap water. He downed the mixture in about 2 rapid shot-taking gulps and immediately chased with a small glass of milk. The milk was intended to reduce the burn of the pepper and turmeric, which it reportedly did perfectly. (Casein in milk somehow displaces capsaicin-like compounds from their receptors, which is why milk or ice cream works great if you eat something too spicy. Or so I hear.)
One and a half hour later, the two friends shared a bowl with blue lotus/damiana ash on the bottom, 30 mg of spicy crystals in the middle, and some dried damiana on top. The damiana was lit and then the mixture was smoked, with all breaths that tasted like spicy crystals held for 15 seconds after the end of the inhalation.
Each person experienced effects that are completely normal for 15 mg of DMT smoked in a pipe with the sandwich method. The effects diminished over the next 10 minutes.
The dose was repeated with a 40mg bowl as the effects of the first bowl were diminishing, in the hopes of "bumping up" to a total of 35 mg of DMT in each person's system. Effects approximately matched a 20mg dose of DMT.
About 10 minutes later, 60 mg of DMT was smoked between the two people. The effects were mild -- approximately the same as with the shared 40 mg bowl.
Discussion: The extract may have slightly reduced, but did not prevent the rapid resistance effect of DMT. These results were similar to what the two friends had done previously with re-dosing smoked DMT, where the body seems more tolerant to each consecutive dose. The extract also did not potentiate the DMT experience at any noticeable level. There was a mild headspace alteration with the extract, which could have easily been due to the placebo effect. Each bioassayer experienced heartburn as a result of ingesting the extract.
Conclusion: The described method did not appear to achieve a significant level of MAO inhibition in either bioassayer. It may have mildly prolonged the comedown and mildly decreased the rapid resistance effect, but those results could have been imagined. Without a real scientific experiment and some valid data to do statistics on, it's impossible for this trial to demonstrate any effect of turmeric extract, produced and ingested in the method described, on smoked DMT.
Any input is welcomed.
