Reusing naphtha

Hey everyone!

Awesome forums, SWIM has been lurking around for long enough and decided to finally say hello! SWIM has been studying the different tek's for some time now and SWIM has a simple question about the naphtha which is the only part SWIM is unsure of.

SWIM plans on attempting the lazymans tek; SWIM is going to be using MHRB purchased from bbb. The question is SWIM has read many self tranforming machine elf watchers talking about reusing the naphtha over and over again, but this is confusing to SWIM as SWIM thought the naphtha was being evaporated away? Is there something SWIM is missing? Perhaps reusing the naphtha is only possible with another tek, not lazymans?

From what SWIM understands after the long slow stir in the bowl, the brew is left to separate (polarize?), the naphtha is removed hopefully containing the spice.

Now this is the part SWIM is confused about, the lazymans doesn't really talk about it next going into the freezer; SWIM was under the impression that the naphtha should be put in a wide glass baking pan and left to evaporate, if so, how is naphtha being reused at any point?

SWIM imagines that SWIM would then need new naphtha for the second pull, new naphtha for the third pull etc?

SWIM appreciates any and all responses!

after SWIY separated the naphtha which floated on top of the dark mimosa acqueous layer, there are two ways of retrieving the crystals: 1 is evaporation, the other is freeze precipitation

evaporation you know, and yes, in that way, you cant reuse the naphtha because it, well, evaporates away. Unless you use some vacuum distillation or some kind of more fancy set up.

If you instead decide for the fridge precipitation (which leaves a purer product but there are a few things more you need to do), then what you gotta do is pre-evap maybe half to two thirds (evaporate even further is no problem, but evapping less would diminish the yield). Then you cover a flat-bottom container where the pre-evapped naphtha is with double layer plastic kitchen wrap (or close the container with a top if it has). Put it in the freezer in the coldest setting and leave it overnight or more. Crystals will precipitate and stick to the sides and bottom of the container. Then you take it out of the freezer and you need to take the crystals out.

you can either scrape it quickly with a razor or knife or something, and the crystals will be floating in the still cold naphtha. Then pass it through a coffee filter in a funnel, and just let the crystals dry. Or instead first pour off the naphtha (since most of the crystals will be stuck to the glass), and then leave the container upside down with some support so air can come in on the bottom, and put a fan in front. This way any remaining solvent in between the crystals will drop down and dry with the air comming from the fan. Then after an hour they might be dry already, so just scrape and voila. If you dont use the fan and just let it stand upright, the little solvent trapped between the crystals will start heating up and melting the dmt back to the bottom of the container (together with condensed water from the air), forming a puddle that doesnt really crystallize

SWIM does freeze precip, with this quick scrapping and filtering. Then he gets this filtered naphtha and puts again in the big container where the mimosa water is still standing, and makes another pull

SWIM usually uses new naphtha for the first two or three pulls, and then in the next day reuses for more pulls the naphtha that is left from pre-evap and freeze precip of the first pulls

SWIM is trying to think or find out about an easy to build home made vacuum distillation way that would both make it faster and also reuse all the naphtha, but while he doesnt, will have to be like this

Thank you for the quick response endlessness, the freeze percip. is what SWIM is going to be doing, I will be making a new post documenting my attempt soon! Appreciate it!
