Rooting B. Caapi

Hi everyone. I recently discovered that I could get my hands on some b. caapi cuttings for a fairly reasonable price. As I'm eager to add this to my visionary plant collection (hopefully one day I can brew up home-grown Ayahuasca ^_^), but don't know much about rooting cuttings.

Should I use rooting hormone? What kind of temperatures do they like?

I'm on the US East Coast, so it's in the 90s and humid here for the rest of the summer.

I haven't rooted caapi but have high success rate with other plants. I'd say for sure use IBA (the cheaper powder form is fine) and use humidifier or make a clear plastic dome to keep the humidity in.

Use a potting mix with high porosity (ie a lot of perlite for example), and water very sparingly at first, letting the mix dry out well, to spur root growth. If constantly moist roots will have little reason to grow

Flourescent light 24/7 for awhile also a good idea.

I recently had pretty good luck with this..

I used rooting hormone and made little cuts in the stem for maybe the first half inch.

regular potting soil plus a good amount of perlite was used .. Maybe 1/4 of the volume was perlite.

I stuck the cutting into the soil about three inches and put a half gallon mason jar over the whole thing. I left it cracked with something propping an edge up so there would be a little air exchange yet it would remain humid.


it was placed in a winfow that got a decent amount of indirect sunlight and waited maybe 2-3 weeks before the first little leaves appeared. just about that time, the original leaves had fallen off.


I misted it occasionally but I couldn't say how often...
