Ya I would say raise the pH to 9-10 and extract the harmalas out. You can try your luck at filtering that precipitate and dissolving in vinegar water or you can mix the harmalas into some naptha/toluene and then extract the naptha/toluene with vinegar water. This will give harmalas dissolved in vinegar water.
