I am more curious to know why you would want to submerge your hands in lye. I can't think of any extraction proscess that requires such a thing. Most people are happy to stir useing rubber gloves to protect against splashes. Rubber gloves will eventually disintigrate after a few days. They will provide perfectly adequate protection for your needs. After your extraction, it is good practice to dispose of such contaminated items.
