Scaling an extraction

Hello everyone!

First of all, I appreciate the members of this resource very much for all of your contributions! I apologize for not being around to share what you guys have given me, but I have been exploring the deepest corners of consciousness for a few months now with all of your help, so thank you for that.

My question is about scaling an extraction, and... saving myself some time, basically.

I started out with cyb's hybrid tek which I like a lot. I have learned a great deal about the process from this tek, and due to my expanded understanding, I am able to tweak the parameters and get different kinds of spice.

The thing is, I have a small group of explorers on board with me now and we like to explore together. Sometimes we will take turns breaking through and talking about our experiences for hours. We've found we quite like changa, trying different herbal beds for different effects, etc., but I find that we are going through a pretty good volume of spice now and the .5g yields from cybs tek isn't anywhere near enough anymore.

I have a rather high intensity job, so long stretches of free time are becoming fewer and farther in between. I don't have time like I used to. Thus, I want to scale up the hybrid tek so I can set myself up for longer periods of time with one extraction.

So my question is... how would you recommend I scale up the hyrbid tek so that I can get about 5g spice (from 500g MHRB) using one vessel? I'm guessing one could make measurements of the solution (such as pH level) at each step along the way to determine when the correct balance has been achieved?

I extracted last weekend, and wanted to get 5g spice. I have heard over and over that scaling up a tek is NOT just a matter of multiplying the values, so I used 10 vessels as described in cyb's tek to maintain the ratio! After decanting the first pull took over 4 hours, I figured there has got to be a better way!

Hello cosmic,

This topic has been covered extensively on the nexus, please use the search function and read the wiki, there are plenty of tek's that extract a pound.

Start by googling this, scaling extraction site:www.dmt-nexus.me

take care

It sounds like you need to spend some time reading up on the theory behind extraction, so that you understand what you are actually doing.

It's possible to extract from 500g of material using a 1L vessel for doing solvent pulls from your basified mixture. Read up a little bit and I'm sure you'll figure it out :)

Cool cool..

@Snozzle: yeah, that is exactly what I want/need to do!

I know there is tek's that are "bulk" but I like cyb's.. believe the method to be very effective.

I did search nexus, "scaling" "ph levels" etc but turned up minimal results. Wasn't really sure what to look for which is why I asked.. but I seem to be more adept at locating things on the internet now after the suggestions ;)

If anyone else wants to chime in and drop a link I should check out, feel free to do so!

thx again.

In order to handle larger quantities of bark using cyb's tek, here is my recommendation:

1. put bark in a large pot, cover with water, add a little vinegar.
2. do 3 or 4 boils of at least 2 hours each, filter out bark each time. Use a t-shirt tied over a large bucket, collect the filtered liquid in the bucket.
3. Reduce the filtered liquid (by heating) until it will fit in your extraction jar, leaving room for solvent pulls (i.e 100ml).
4. proceed with extraction as in the original tek (from step 4 in cyb's hybrid tek).

The main thing is that the bark must be removed from the acid solution in order to fit it in a single jar. A 1L jar won't hold more than 200g of wet bark and leave room for solvent/mobility.
