Incidentally, the author of the article, John Horgan, has tried ayahuasca (he didn't like it) and wrote the interesting book "Rational Mysticism".

Thanks so much for an interesting read and the tip-off to two books that sound like they should be right up my alley. Both are topics I'm extremely interested in.
