Hello again! Preparing mentally for my first DMT trip, and I am curious/worried about having autism and doing DMT. I have visual and auditorial processing problems, so bright, flashing lights and overwhelming sound can be very distressing for me. For example, I can’t go to something like a metal concert.

For other folks here with sensory processing issues, does DMT make handling such stimuli easier? I know your brain does behave very differently on the medicine, but I just don’t want to accidentally traumatize myself with too much stimulation.

Although I don’t have autism I do have a somewhat strange habit of smoking DMT while I’m very much overworked, it’s the time I have strong tinnitus and have difficulty reading and writing. At those times when I do decide to jump in I can have a strong feeling of overwhelming stress after the experience, it’s like I don’t have room for an experience like that. This usually leads to a somewhat forced moment of reflection and a frustrating break. After some time of I rebound pretty quickly.

In my experience I would just start with a somewhat low dose and see how you feel and see how it affects you. From there start upping the dose and regularly check in on yourself. Remember there is no reason to aim for an breakthrough, just work and reflect on the experiences and see where you end up.
