Are you guys serious? Which countries have outlawed glassware?
SWIM has been ordering glassware on-line for over 20 years. He has all sorts of glassware he ordered on-line: several separatory funnels, several condensers, a few Soxhlets, a continuous liquid liquid extractor, a sublimator, fritted funnels, countless flasks and beakers, and a whole bunch of other stuff.
But where SWIM is right now in California glassware is legal to own. I believe Texas has outlawed lab glassware for individuals though.
If they shipped the item to you without questions, I don’t think you have anything to worry about. Most companies just want to sell their glassware to everyone to make more money and will unless forced not to by law. If it’s illegal to sell glassware to individuals in your area, I believe the companies selling the glassware to individuals are breaking the law and are probably very unlikely to tell the police about it or even keep records of the sale.
Separatory funnels are great for making gravy. They allow you to easily separate the fat layer form the bottom layer. There are many other legitimate uses for these in the kitchen. If caught, tell them you use if for making gravy and had no idea it was illegal laboratory glassware. Tell them you thought it was a “gravy separator” or “gravy skimmer” and didn’t realize it was for something else. It’s believable if you explain it properly.
An alternative to getting a separatory funnel is in fact a gravy separator. Check out the OXO Good Grips Fat Separator. It’s a separatory funnel designed specifically for the kitchen. The good thing about this one is that it comes with a plug for the spout.

The last one is one of the best kinds because it comes with a built in strainer. It's very useful.
To use one for lab purposes, fill it with water just until the pouring spout contains some water, then place your finger over the pouring spout to close it and then fill it with your solvent mix. Let your mix settle into two layers, then pour out the lower water layer. It’s a pretty good alternative to a laboratory separatory funnel and doesn't need a stand.

Good to know people like you exist.
Anyways, SWIM is Illinois-based, and didn't think it would be a problem. But SWIM has read so much about
a knock on the door by the police for something so stupid that SWIM can never be sure.
Thanks for reassuring SWIM, SWIM is now thinking about picking up some more glassware of the net.
Do SWIY know any good places to shop besides eBay? A soxhlet apparatus sounds amazing.

Try www.ecrater.com and search for Soxhlet there. There's a really good vendor there that you'll find that sells all sorts of items at a really good price.
Easy big fella, Soxhalet is alot of gear for a noob. Unless you know someone in the know it would be best to do alot of research before plunking down the money. There are several things you need to know before you start using such a device, and most of it is more than a thread in a forum can tackle. Silicone for joints is a classic oops on glassware, and I am not even a person in the know. Flunked high school chemistry cuz the ex-Marine Corps drill seargeant teacher was such an ex-Marine Corps drill serageant, plus the girl who sat behind me... That being said, this is the forum to be in if you want to get info on setting up. I am also the happy daddy of a pair of ebay 1000ml sep funnels. Big tip of the day for A/B MHRB extractions (do not STB with a sep funnel unless you have the patience of a saint), mother liquor out the bottom, let stand an hour or two and clear the last goo out the bottom, then pour the good stuff out the top of the funnel (Unless your using DCM then reverse everything) waiting an hour at least is necessary cuz the mother liquor clings to the side of the funnel.
