If you use a solvent like toluene, theoretically one pull should suffice if you manage to separate all the toluene from the basic soup. In practice though some amount may remain in the mixture and therefore a second pull will be more efficient than the total volume of both pulls combined in a single pull.
If using naphtha and want to freeze precip, you have to reduce till saturation, but I wouldn't feel good about about reducing a large volume of naphtha: It's a fire hazard, unhealthy, bad for the environment and wasteful. Unless you have a distillation setup, I wouldn't do it.
With regard to impurities, I think there will be MORE impurities if using more solvent and reducing that solvent.
