Smoking Changa - Blood in phlegm

(:Hulius:)

Hello Nexus,

I made some Changa with 0,3g Calea, 0,3g Mullein and 0,3g Chaliponga, with 1g Mimosa Spice and 0,3g Harmalas from Rue.

I have used it in sub breakthrough and in light doses to test the waters in the course of three/four weeks, smoking it from a tobacco pipe with a light tissue on the end and did not notice any negative physical symptoms aside from some head pressure and bowel movements during the come up and a bit of irritability after the come down.

Yesterday I smoked a bit more of it during the afternoon, packing the bowl with Artemisia, Blue lotus and Hash on top of the Changa. It left me with a fleeting headache. Maybe there was too much material.

In the evening I decided to finish the bowl, discarding the burnt top herbs. After doing it i felt some phlegm in my throat and upon spitting it up i saw some blood in it, so I spit again for five/six times and there was still blood.
After a brief time it stopped. The bowl wasn't harsh, it was actually smooth.
I am writing this the morning after, my throat and lungs feel fine and I'm breathing in a normal way.

The same thing happened to me after making some heavy harmalas changa and using it with a dry bong, some months before.

Both Changas were from the same batches, with the same base herbs.

What could that be? Base contamination? Incandescent smoke? Too much plant material?
A combo of all three?

Should I wash it with some distilled water?

I am a bit sad with it, it was a good blend and felt ready to dive deeper...

Please stop smoking right away, coughing up blood is a serious warning sign and could indicate a severe health problem. The most important thing now is to see a doctor as soon as possible. Whatever you choose to do with your changa afterwards is secondary.

Based on the ingredients, I wouldn’t expect them to cause this, which makes it even more important to get checked out.

^^^ This.

I'm an agreement with the gentleman above.

It probably has nothing to do with the changa mixture. But the changa mixture probably isn't helping the issue.

And don't go to horrific conclusions. Just go to a Doctor. Coughing up blood does not mean your life is over. It could be any sort of cause ranging from mild to serious but if you don't get it looked at it's probably not going to get better.

Smoalking in general dries out the sinuses and small tears from the drying can occur from the matter particles in the smoke. I suppose you could reflect on whether you feel you're coughing this up from your lungs, or if it dripped down into your throat. Keep an eye on it. Drink lots of water. But stop smoalking until you find an answer or you stop seeing blood in your phlegm.

One love

do you also smoke pot and or cigarettes?...you might be just getting over a cold or some bug as long as its only small traces of blood with mucus?

i just got over a month long bout of intermitent coughing...it was caused by drip that lasts weeks... it probibly was viral sinusitis......in the end i some traces of blood in coughed up flem..im fine now!

Hello everybody,

Thanks for the apprehension, I'm feeling fine. I haven't seen any more blood in my phlegm luckily and my breathing is normal.

I think it was caused by the heat of the smoke and by it's drying effects, as Voidmatrix suggested. I applied the flame directly to a small dose of half burnt changa and inhaled quickly. I should've taken my time by letting it burn slowly.

I'm also an hash smoker so that may have contributed to the dryness of my mucosae and as 1Starway7 said I may have a cold developing, I'm feeling a bit stuffed.

The blood wasn't dark, it was light and bright red and probably from the upper respiratory system, maybe a capillary popped, smoke is a bit caustic and irritating in general.

On the other hand, silly me, I must say that this blend is beautifully and extremely potent, and super tasty too! I couldn't resist and I tried it the next night while stargazing BUT I lit it with a coal from the bonfire. The taste was wonderful, so Chalipongey and Caley, the coal must've reached the perfect temperature because all these flavours vaped perfectly and blended in an electric dark green flavour. And the effects waow oh waow!! It tells you stories and shows you things from who knows where hahaha, it teaches movements and sounds, it lets you humbled and awestruck by mystery and curiosity.

Thanks!!
