Sodiom Carbonate and Epsom Salt "Washing"? What is the point?

I've extracted DMT a few times now and I have never done any of these washings? I was reading some threads/teks on another site and they were talking about washing/cleaning with baking soda and epsom salts to get the lye out?

Am I missing something here?

After the freeze precip step, I pout the naptha off and tilt my pyrex dish and put it in front of a fan to dry the crystal out. Then I scrape them up and put them on a piece of paper and then chop them up so that all parts of the crystals are getting exposure to the air. Is that good enough?

I've read somewhere here someone mentioning using simply water to wash out all of the residues, would this work?

I've also been wondering If Epson salt and baking soda would suffice.

The epsom salt gets any moisture out the naptha and the sodium carbonate wash gets any lye traces out of the naptha. Personally i love how an sc wash produces fluffy dmt. Ive never done an epsom wash because it's not necessary imo.
