Sodium hydroxide

Yes.
Make sure to wear protective gloves and glasses when working with such strong chemicals such as NaOH and Na-carbonate.
Always add lye pellets to water and not vice-versa.

Thanks for replying, I’m about to do my first extraction using Cybs max ion tek and I don’t want to get anything wrong.. will the carbonation not make a difference then? Or will I need to do a heptane wash when I have the crystals?

I'm not sure what you mean with carbonation. Can you elaborate?
Usually no recrystalizations are needed, if you do the steps leading to freeze precipitation well enough.

Sorry I meant will the sodium carbonate not make a difference? Here’s a link to the actual product I’ll be using, will this be ok? Sodium Hydroxide Pellets 97.0 – 100.5% ACS
Sodium carbonate forms spontaneously from sodium hydroxide on contact with carbon dioxide in the air. The manufacturer is being uncharacteristically honest compared to the claims for, say, Red Devil lye where '100% pure' is frankly impossible.
Lab grade material will have the purity listed as a range. Notice the upper value of 100.5%(!) - I wonder why you're not asking whether this extra half-percent of magic hyperspace lye will damage your spice or something :D

You cannot use or store sodium hydroxide and not have it develop a small percentage content of carbonate without using a controlled atmosphere, which in this instance would be massive overkill.

Haha I get you bro thanks for the info, appreciate it

You can purchase pure sodium carbonate in the pool section of many hardware stores as a pH up product.

Sodium Carbonate can be used to raise a pH to around 11.6 or so.

It can be used similarly to Sodium Hydroxide for some extractions but can be somewhat safer and less destructive than lye is.

Does it produce a purer crystal in the end than regular lye?
Does what? Sodium carbonate? You'll have to be more specific about which post you're replying to.

"Purer crystal in the end" depends on many more factors than just the choice of base, so you'd best go into detail about your intended extraction method as well.
