Solvent turned into JELLY?

Hello again Nexus!

SWIM is currently on the final step of their third extraction this week, and he has noted to me a strange occurrence. After pulling his solvent and placing into a small glass container, he set the solvent into a heat bath to go the path of evaporation instead of precipitation as precipitation is proving troublesome.

After sometime away from the heat bath, SWIM returned to his solvent to find it had become a gelatinous mass. It is very similar in consistency to Jell-o, except that there is more loose liquid. It appears the gelatinous quality of the solvent is diminishing as it cools down.

Can anyone please clue me into whats going on? Is it something he accidentally pulled into his solvent? As far as I have read, this is not normal behavior - but alas I could be wrong.

I used a large variety of keywords in search but yielded little, so forgive me if this has been covered repeatedly.

I more or less had something like this happen yesterday. Stir the hell out of it with a fan blowing and mine evaped into a solid. Try that and see other better minds advice.

He sanitized thoroughly all the vessels he used and paid careful attention to make sure he did not over-heat during the procedure. This is the first pull from the extract, so it's likely quite saturated.

Found a similar problem, but the thread got little attention and SWIM plans to employ the OP's solution if no resolution or problem can be worked out in this thread.

SWIM will likely go this route - how long should one expect the evaporation to take for 30 ml or so of solvent? The actions afterwards will be determined by the color and purity of the end product right? If it's dirty, do you recommend re-x?

Just depends on how good you stir, climate, wtf is going on with it, lol. Just stir and you will get an idea. I stired it for about 10 min the left a fan on it over night. Still has some IPA in it today but Ill work on it some more later. Mine was full spec fluffy beige stuff so it wont really xtalize. Im using this stuff for my changa and growing pretty xtals for friends and family.

Depends on your definition of "dirty". Some people consider yellow spice dirty where thats what I call perfect. I like the yellow full spec dmt. I consider dirty what Im dealing with from using heat. I've pulled a lot of un wanted crap that's made a dark brown color. Its mostly from the sugars carmelized during the acid bath that went wrong from a faulty crock pot. Lame.

So thats dirty and un wanted stuff and yes I am having to do multiple washing's/re-x's to clean it into a smooth smoking product.

If you wish for pure white/clear dmt then yes re'x it to get the fats and oils out but I would save these oils and fats for changa.

I have always shared the feeling that full spectrum is perfect, nice light yellow fluffy crystals. Its just what its always looked like.

Okay I will stir the shit out of this for an hour or so with a fan blowin on it, then leave it over night. Is it likely to take longer than 2 days?

You should be able to in a day but its hard to say for sure.I could have worked on it more today and got it all dried up but had other things going on. Its pretty much fully dry now, no solvent smell and quite hard and I didnt do a thing today other than score it with a razor and kept the fan on it all day. I bet you could get it done in 24 hours if you work on it a lot. just keep mashing it, folding it ext and leave the fan on it.
