Some questions concerning combining Cactus with Harmalas

Hey guys,

I just bought this cactus (Peruvian Torch) which is a bit disappointing in size. I'm used to consuming about a kilo (2.2 lbs) of Pachanoi but this Torch I have now is only half of that, so I'm considering adding some harmalas (Syrian Rue) to boost it a bit. But before I do, I'd like to ask some questions to those of you who have experience with this combination.

I've read in the wiki that House describes this combination as "No contraindication here. A nice synergy. The harmala takes away some of the stimulation of the mescaline and makes the experience more dreamy."

1) It's unclear whether this was pure mescaline or a full cactus. I'm currently unable to extract mescaline so it would be the full-blown cactus experience for me. I'm wondering if cacti might contain any other alks that might not be safe when used with harmalas. I only have rue at my disposal, which is a pretty safe MAOI in my experience.

2) I've taken rue with mushrooms and found it doubled the effects. Would you say the combination of rue+cactus intensifies the cactus experience as well? And if so, how much? Note that I only have experience with Pachanoi, whilst this one is a Peruvian Torch, and I've read these are stonger.

Any tips would be much appreciated!
Sincere thanks in advance.

Quite a few people have tried out the combination of Trichocereus species with syrian rue, it seems generally safe for most people though of course proceed with caution.

There is a synergy between the two, but not the same kind of direct potentiation you would get from combining rue with mushrooms. Mescaline is primarily metabolized by a different enzyme system than MAO (I think it's the catechol-O-methyltransferase pathway).

mescaline isn't metabolized by MAO enzymes (as far as i know), so the potentiation won't be as intense.

however this combination does seem to be enjoyed by those who have tried it.

if you search for "san paapi" you can find some other old threads.
