Starting with a manure based mushroom substrate

Migrated topic.

Hello,

I am curious to know what the differences are between starting with a manure based mushroom substrate and a powdered corn based substrate. While using grow bags I have injected several grow bags containing either manure or corn based substrate with spores. I have found that the corn based bags all have developed significant growth. The manure based bags on the other hand have not had any growth. Is it not possible to grow mushrooms from spores on manure or should one start with a corn/grain based substrate? Are the spawn times different for both the substrates? In addition, if this was a failed attempt, are my bags ruined? Would it be possible to liquid culture some spores and then apply them to the manure to get the mushroom spawn I want? Or should I remake some grown bags using a corn substrate at the bottom and add this previously used manure substrate to the top of it?

Many thanks and namaste!

When doing horse manure grows you need to start off with some spawned jars or lc which you then mix with pastorised manure.

Horse manure is a great substrate since it is very resistent to mold or bacteria.
