STP extraction, dark, cloudy naptha pulls

I'm fairly experienced and have run several extractions. I'm currently running an STB extraction using 1kg mhrb, 5gal water, 1.5kg NaOH. On my first pull, the mimosa mud was still hot from the heat released from the lye, and the naptha pulled off a murky purple/red color. After letting it sit for a day, the murkiness settled to the bottom, and the naptha was pulled off of the top, resulting in a clear purple/red solution. I assumed that the hot mud was my problem, and ran a second extraction a few days later. Same result, but maybe even murkier this time around.

Any guesses as to what is going on?

More importantly, what should I do from this point to separate out the good stuff from the crap?
Thanks in advance

He,
How much naphtha did you use per pull? and 1,5 kilo is really excessive.
The best thing to do is freeze x everything then do a re-extraction if the product is not clean enough.

For a re-extraction just dissolve all your product in vinegar then re-base (you don't need that much lye :) ) and then re-pull with naphtha.

And by the way, why do kilo extractions. Your product is illegal when purified (you should end up with 15 grams or more, almost a lifetime supply !) in MRHB state its just some natural dye you have laying around.

Good luck,

Thanks for the reply, sorry it took me so long to get back on.

I know the lye was excessive, but I didn't need to save any, and didn't realize using extra would cause problems. I used ~1.5 cups of naptha per pull, decreasing the volume on later pulls.

I'm doing one massive extraction so I never have to do it again. basic laziness...

For the re-extraction, do you have any idea how much vinegar/lye I should use? I'm guessing just enough vinegar to get the crystals to dissolve, then about 1g lye per 15mL vinegar.
