Suggestivism - Beginning of the End of Categories?

These artworks generally always have recognizable elements, but the real world ends there, as these elements are usually then twisted into the impossible conjunctures of mad dream logic. Suggestivist art can sometimes suggest the frightening and haunting, but usually the emphasis is on the playful and wildly unapologetically creative.

And so it begins... Technologies and techniques have advanced to the point where more and more people are getting into art with relatively easy access, and manifesting their raw subconscious mind with no need for labels. Just pure flow, everything is allowed. And it will only accelerate from here...

I feel "suggestivism" is just giving a name to the true nature of art.

All of my best works have come straight out of the pen to the paper, no thought involved, no logic, nonsensical, just flow. I have done many many drawings that you would look at and just go, "what the.."

I always loved the critique part of art class where I would go up in front of the room and everyone would try to pin down my art and tell me what they thought it meant, it was an art form in and of itself because in reality I just drew with no meaning and people would attach their own ideals and philosophies to my art, it was great!

I'm glad more people are realizing this though, letting the art flow through you with no agenda of your own is the most rewarding aspect of art in my opinion.

Awesome looking work in that link daedaloops. I noticed a democratization of access to photography with the advent of digital imaging, but I guess the same can be said for essentially any form of expression: writing, painting, etc. The internet essentially allows anyone to bypass the standard gatekeepers and attempt to access the public directly. You see this happening even outside the realm of art. I personally believe we're in the midst of an explosion of all forms of knowledge (David Deutsch's The Beginning of Infinity is an interesting perspective on this).

I don't, however, see this sort of "stream of consciousness" as being the only form going forward. The beauty of infinity is that it supports the entire spectrum from literal to total ambiguity and I think we'll end up seeing all of it. It always becomes a matter of the artist's intention. Interesting times at the very least!

Seems like a new version of surrealism or dadaism.

Actually, there have been art movements that had many of these elements going way back... I guess following the muse is fundamental to most artforms on some level.

Anyway interesting to see what people are up to--and glad to see that a lot of the stuff is psychedelic.
