will SWIM need to make this anhydrous or will the 0.5% water be ok?

That's all well and good but where is the lab grade fumaric acid that SWIM so desperately needs.

Also, FASA is ~20mg/ml of fumaric acid and acetone. So ~20g per liter.
 
So is 99.5% acetone anhydrous enough? SWIM managed to find some in the UK, unlike fumaric acid, it's easy to find.
 
T get some epsom salts and put on a tray in the oven for about an hour or cook in a pot on a hotplate until you see it turn greyish. Doing so makes anhydrous magnesium sulphate - mix some of this magnesium sulphate with your acetone until the residue no longer forms clumps then you should have totally anhydrous acetone.

You can get acetone, epsom salts and fumaric acid from ebay UK quite cheaply.
 
This can be done buy epsom salts. spread it on a tray bake it for 2hours at 400 degrees. Then scrape up 10 grams, put it into 1 litre of acetone, shake well, and let sit for 24 hours, the salt will sink to the bottom and it is now anhydrous acetone

And it says no water is allowed to get into the acetone, does the 99.5% acetone have enough water to make 5-ho-dmt freebase soluable?

I can not access the thread cos I am not registered on that forum but simply if you dry the acetone as I advised you than there will not be any water left in acetone so you wont have to worry about that.

Here you can read about epsom salt. its very easy to get from anywhere. try ebay. if you do it as I described above you should be ok. Don't forget to filter the salt out. than just use the acetone for extraction.
 
My advice is to consider the fact that you have 99.5% purity acetone a stupendous, miraculous event and to proceed ahead with the extraction. I don't know what else to say. Your acetone is perfectly fine, amazing even. There is nothing to dry... the .5% of impurities is most likely metals and salts, not water. Even if that .5% was 100% water, who cares you're looking at one half of a percent. Since in all probability it isn't 100% water, you couldn't remove the .01% water or whatever it MIGHT be in there even if you wanted to.

If you had acetone from the hardware store, yes by all means add a desiccant and dry it out.
 
if 5-ho-dmt is soluble in water, then you would want the acetone to be anhydrous, just to be safe.

simple as pie,

STEP 1 : get out salts, put on a plate in the microwave, put on high for 10 min (you can do less time if you prefer)
you will hear sizzling, thats good. it will stop sizzling when its completely dry. check to make sure its all crunchy,

STEP 2 : get it out the microwave, use oven mitt or towel, shit will be HOT! let it cool down then after that you break the salts off your plate, put into your acetone, shake up and wait 24 hours ( im not sure you have to wait that long but i do)


thats it. you can filter out the salts if you want, but its not needed they stay at the bottom.

Thanks for this.

This is probably a stupid question but gonna ask it anyways; is it possible to put the acetone in the freezer for a couple of days, till the water in it freezes and pour the rest of the acetone out?
