Rue has mostly harmaline + harmine with the occasional dash of THH, whereas caapi has mostly harmine + THH with very little harmaline.
The total alkaloid content of rue is in the range of 3 - 7%, which is about ten times that of caapi. Their minor alkaloids and secondary metabolites are also completely different, which leads to subtle differences in their qualitative character experientially.

This is a question that has come up before (in fact - spookily - it crossed my mind only yesterday afternoon) so a
search of the forum threads may bring some further experiences to light. I seem to recall at least one person being of the opinion that it's best not to combine the two plants, but that is of course their opinion and their reasoning is beyond my current recollection.

I recently bought 100gms of Mckenna red vine. Unfortunately they only sent 50 grams. The rest of the order will come in a few weeks time, apparently. That is much too late, though, since I want to journey on ayahuasca this coming weekend. I've never taken Caapi before, but I don't think 50 grams...

when combining caapi and rue, i hear some say they like this better than either alone, and i wana try it all. ,And rue is so much cheaper! If i was looking for a strong experience then would i take 1/2 the amount of caapi for strong and 1/2 the amount of rue for strong? Or does the different...
