The colors of music

Migrated topic.

Mystic Cannibal

Rising Star
Hi everybody, this is my first post!

I have yet to try DMT, but SWIM should hopefully be trying it soon, SWIM is pretty close to me so i think i will get a good idea what its like.

Anyways hearing about shamanic icaros and the synesthesia of ayahuasca with sound, I was wondering has anyone taken the time to map out which colors are seen with which notes? Do people always see the same colors with the same notes? Do all people see the same colors?
What could this mean? If its the same for everyone all the time it definitely suggests something interesting is going on. Who knows maybe sound vibrates the third eye (pineal gland) producing consistent visions like some kind of visual ear drum?

Perhaps I am not scientifically aware enough but i remember hearing somewhere that sound is just a much larger wave length of light energy waves? That doesnt sound right since sound is air vibrating, but both light and color are waves at any rate and both are different forms of the same fundamental energy.

Its also interesting to note in many mystical traditions, like with pythagorians, the egyptians and many others, sound plays a big role. Metaphysically it is thought by some to have a kind of magickal cymatic effect when done properly. In kabbalah each letter of the hebrew alphabet (which some believed was created in a manner involving cymatics) each letter is associated with among many other things, a color and a musical note, it would be interesting to compare. There are also other occult correspondences with music and color.

Haha, this is all wild speculation of course, for most of it I have no idea what the hell i am talking about.

hey Mystic, welcome to the nexus. I like these kinds of thoughts.
More work needs to be done,
maybe that is why you are here?

You can think of sound as a slower vibration, yes. much further down along the spectrum, which is like rainbow after rainbow interwoven throughout the octaves of frequencies. I don't know how it works, but I think light acts as a particle, rather than a wave? I'm not sure.
(There are waves in the universe ~10 light years long...)

R.A. Wilson said "it's been well known since newton we only perceive less than .5% of all known pulsations in the visual spectrum alone" :]

One could sit in front of some speakers with a signal generator and repeatedly subject oneself to certain tones while in hyperspace to get a better idea at what they do.
I speculate one wouldn't really be seeing solid colors, although it would be interesting if there was a predominant color as a sort of "theme" to the journey.

Hmm good thoughts,
yes i am pretty sure light moves in waves, the color depends on the wave length just like the octaves of sound.
SWIM is pretty excited about experimenting.
I bring this up because hearing a Mckenna recording he was talking about shamans singing songs on ayahuasca, only the songs were not for the sound aesthetics but the visual aesthetics, these are considered magical songs called icaros. He seemed to say everyone saw the same colors.
I cant seem to find the post on here but i remember reading that someone on here played the french horn and had a distinct color for each note, they even said what it was for some of them, i cant remember the name of the post, I was hoping that person would see this post. Apparently nobody else has bothered to have someone write down what colors there are for each note.
I think this could be more important then most western people realize, it is apparently how shamans do their work, the more songs they know the better they are considered to be.
SWIM is no musician but has a basic keyboard and I will pass on his experience in a few weeks.

You might want to get a signal generator, it would be easier than trying to maneuver a keyboard while in hyperspace. (you can find freeware)
I am looking forward to your findings, but I am pretty sure it's much more complex than just colors per frequency.
Icaros are taught by plant teachers, and are not just visual songs. They contain information, just like any other broadcast of consciousness.
You'll find when you're in hyperspace you can use your voice to harmonize with certain things around you (and seemingly not)
A lot of shamans seek out the dissonance in your existence and work on these areas with their harmonics both vocally and mentally.

The reason none of us have bothered to document colors per frequency is because ... well it just appears to not be that easy.

Hmm thats all very interesting, i am sure that doing this experiment would be easier for SWIM on pharmausca or something. Though with freebase SWIM should try doing some mantras, or occult phrases that are traditionally "vibrated" to bring you to certain energies or certain levels of the astral planes.

There is so much infinity left to explore! all very exciting.
