I am a dead body moving, I've got lightning in my hand
I won't be here for long so you got to understand
You can dance with the demon, look him dead into the eyes
I've already been where we go when we die
They are, indeed! Yes, I was going to share that one, but you beat me to it.
I love the remake they did of the Brown Bird song, Fingers to the Bone, giving it a new life. MorganEve Swain, their new(ish), singer and multi-instrumentalist, heard here, was half of the duo, Brown Bird, along with her late husband, David Lamb, who wrote the original song.
Here’s the original, with David Lamb…
And here are a couple of versions of an older, Devil Makes Three song, Bangor Mash, from before the time that MorganEve Swain joined the band…
I took LSD to have
Adventures in my head
I ended up staring face-to-face
With the gates of hell instead
I thought I was dead, I might have had three heads
And I got attacked by bees
But in a moment of clarity, I found еverybody staring
Like therе's something wrong with me
But it ain't no sin to think your skin
Is covered up in bugs
Oh my god, I love doing drugs
Now life's cheap but surely got the power to transform a creature of the sky to a creature of the land
It only takes just one card to either make or break a great hand
You could be making so much noise then all of sudden smack, not a single sound
Seems like a hand sweeps out of the sky and introduces your body to the grit of the ground
