Here's a real simple turkish red lentil soup recipe, no quantites because I always cook by feel. It's delicious and even my kids love it.
oignons
chili
parsley
coriander leaf
cumin
black pepper
sea salt
bit of lemon juice
carrots (not too many)
red lentils
peeled tomatoes
olive oil
yoghurt
Put some olive oil in your pan, fry the oignons first and then toss all the other ingredients in, let it simmer a couple of minutes and add water or broth. Let it cook until the lentils are soft and then puree until you have a nice smooth soup.
Add joghurt and enjoy
PS: you can swap the red lentils with chick peas
