I finally found a hardware store that had pieces that were exactly the same as the OP used and built the pipe exactly how they did, but I'm still having problems with it burning instead of vaping. I'll try more screens on the intake I guess.

Not sure how I feel about Chinese brass.

A thought I did have though was if anyone has tried using the e-mesh strips as screens. Maybe cut a strip or two to use as your bottom screen and then stack the pipe screens on top of that and it should hold most of the liquid without letting it run down the stem. I’ve never know anyone to put a flame to one before but I have seen cotton catch on fire and the mesh strips hold up so they should be fine for this use.

Since this is a sticky, there's something SWIM wanted to mention about the use of brass, especially the cheap Chinese kind. SWIM happens to be into illicit alcohol distilling and he knows that most distillers refuse to use brass parts in their stills and highly criticize anybody who does. This is because most brass unless stated otherwise will contain lead in it that will leech into the alcohol vapors, and the same thing could happen with dmt. And just because you can find pipes made out of brass does not mean they're safe, the government is terrible at regulating the addition of heavy metals to things. Like for example, a lot of cannabis and vape pens on the market contain it as well (which is why SWIM doesn't trust weed unless its straight off a plant either).
