The Neuroscience Musings...

Hey Friends!

Here are some random neuroscientific musings of mine from yesterday,
presented, in blobulous incoherent fashion!
Clues Clues Clues

Random interesting tidbit
-Dopamine inhibiting COMT, an enzyme responsible for breaking down epinephrine(adrenaline)
-Oxytocin stimulating MAO to metabolize adrenaline, and dopamine, and as yall of course know serotonin...
I thought that little tidbit was interesting! xD

Trauma can trigger:
-a Cortisol response
-an Adrenaline response
-a Glucagon (increase bloodstream glucose levels) response
-Cortisol and Adrenaline can stimulate Dopamine (a Seeking function) for relief.
-Adrenaline can stimulate the HPA axis, which can further stimulate Adrenaline
-Dopamine can stimulate the HPA axis to trigger more Cortisol and Adrenaline
-Dopamine inhibits COMT, which is responsible for clearing out the Cortisol and Adrenaline
-The Hypothalamic-adrenal-petuitary (HPA) Axis is definitely involved in these high alertness responses.
-The Vagus Nerve is also involved in the regulation of the HPA Axis

High glycemic index paradox ~
-It leads to insulin resistance, causing fatigue. The fatigue stimulates HPA axis which releases more cortisol, in an attempt to restore energy balance.

Oxytocin (OT) and Vasopressin (AVP) on the Vagus Nerve
-Both implicated in stimulating the vagus nerve, which in turn also stimulates the HPA Axis to calm down, and metabolims of HPA Axis products to increase.
-Increaseing Vagus Nerve activation, can lower HPA Axis activation, which in turn, can further increase Vagus nerve activation

Some Personal Commentaries!

I notice in my Buddhist studies, as well as with shamanic dietas and such, that there is some sort of massive trend towards gentler lifesytles. The vegan diets minimize adrenaline found in animal products, and whatnot. The meditations for instance, develop a sense for silence. The kindness unto others, is kindness unto us, just as pain unto others, is pain unto us. As was mentioned in ram dass's book, somewhere, i remember somewhere "the yogi breathes gently". And kind people touch you gently, or at least more aware oftentimes. as do you.

In my most recent LSD trip 120ug, I felt so much serenity, almost as if I could smell across time in the sweet air ~ and I noticed that when I add MDMA to my LSD trips, I feel more alertness, as if I am wired. I didn't really like that, albeit the trip did also become more powerful. I also feel this when I drink caffeine close to these nuanced experiences. If i just had a psychedlic trip and then like, the next day, i'm having even one cup of a caffeineated type of tea, I will suddenly feel the adrenaline, and the alertness rise. I'm a very sensitive person to adrenaline, and i'm very sensitive to stress, so this topic of was of interest to me, especially when reflecting on their relationship to both Fear and Love. The interplay between this sort of relaxation and opening up to the senses, opening up to kindness, and love, and appreciation, all the magic of others ~ lessening of the disoriented oblivious singularity self-centricity of alarming panic states, heightening of the orientation in the universe ~! I find that fascinating.

Eating this shamanic diet I call it has really been good to me! It's really impressed me with it's suble habitual power to clarify. I've been doing it for a year now, and I cheat less and less. Actually as of the last few months I outright prefer it. It's tasteless in the most refreshing wholesome way. If I eat slimy junk food, I feel it going through my entire body for literally at least the entire rest of the day and following morning. I am never doing any stimulants these days either... No coffee or tea, no amphetamine type molecules, no nicotine... I find that for me, abstaining from stimulants for the time being really helps my sensitivity really open up. The shamanic diet has no extra salt added, mostly just the nuts, fruits, raw veggies, steamed veggies, rice/proteins, and in the mornings nice hot water, and ice water in the evenings (my preferences) :). It's so fresh, and actually, has been helping me with other life stressors. I've had some issues with such vegan diets before, like low iron (twice), low salt when I suddently went to tropical climates, or what I percieved to be: low EAA's one time where eating chicken for 1-2 weeks helped, so i'm still figuring out how to make it all work well, but I can only recommend it!!

What is up with this strong sense of fear, and this strong need for escape? Why do you like the things you like so much? What is in this stillness, of not reacting strongly, and not seeking strongly? I was very interested to learn about the COMT enzyme, as I did not know that that existed, nor it's connections to OT and AVP. additionally, I did not know this entire HPA - cortisol - adrenaline - dopamine - glucagon thing! Interesting... 🪷

If any of you feel inspired or curious by these topics, I would really love to hear your thoughts! 🧩🤍

Thanks for this provocative share Serenity. I think we have a few things in common. Diving head first into neuroscience seems to be a worthwhile venture to anyone seeking greater illumination. I also have benefited greatly from a pure whole foods based diet whilst also suffered the consequences of the s.a.d opposite. The glandular system is ultra sensitive to all input likely both dense and subtle. Dense as in foods/liquids and subtle as in frequencies and the likes.

Well you've convinced me to listen to some material on these dots heretofore unconnected in my labyrinthine sojourning in this density. No doubt the questions you lastly propose are ones worthy of inquiry.

Congratulations on achieving the level of purification that you've thus far willfully commanded. Where I find myself I wave to you 'above' as I continue to wrestle with lower aspects which have effectually kept me in more dense states of engagement. My last ceremony has brought forth a both loving and severe reminder of the quintessential nature of applying methods of purification that will support me in this lifetime.

Take care

This is the first talk I absorbed whilst suffering from insomnia due to halfing my daily kratom intake. Before I logged off of the nexus for a month or so recently I spoke of attempting to quit the plant. It hasn't happened yet as what's under it and under it (often under a trauma is a trauma is a trauma) though feel confident I'll make it happen when I have an extended period of time to "hermit out". I've always liked the archetype of the hermit in that he/she has a small light that is enough to illumine ones way forward.

She talks of a number of the points you brought forth. Feel free anyone to share any talks on these subjects.

A key thing I feel is that, diet, especially the more sensitive you get, can help you absorb lots of unclarified energies as you get immersed in the world. It's a drug relationship which is always active within you, for better, but most commonly for worse. I do feel like it's somehow a titanic, vast, grounding psychedelic. Stressors from being in noisy places, being around alarmed or triggered people, physical stress, numbing and hurtful work environments, a shamanic diet can definitely help mitigate. Diet is a very very very powerful choice you can make on the material plane.

We typically notice the extremely noticeable, such as these powerful psychedelics, of both the clarifying and intoxicating types ~ and see them as powerful, but powerful is also, the additive power of small changes. The small things, cumulated, for years, can become a powerful force and part of us. We see this reflected in any field of excellence, in the sciences, arts, etc etc. where focus is applied over time! I would assume in the psychedelic sphere, similar can be said. What are the most powerful changes a psychonaut can make in order to connect with the vast shades of consciousness out there? - on the material level- Psychonauts are already so attuned to the material consumatory ~ and psychedelics will reflect this teaching back as well ~ that our diet itself is a reality. The food is a psychedelic drug. It's a substance which you are almost always under the influence of. Even if you don't eat for one or two days, you are STILL under the influence of it, and that's not speaking to the millions of small cumulative changes which are present in you and have been building up in your brain, nervous system, heart etc all that time.

People might not associate diet itself as one of the master plant teachers, but I now do. Diet itself is a master plant teacher.

It's powerful in its cumulative effect, which is subtle to notice, but it seems many recorded masters have appreciated. Over longer periods of time is where this force begins to manifest in the physical body and thus, your mind, and reality itself. It's a healing force, changing us, every day, with every meal, combatting stressors with clarity, with every refreshened night of rest building new connections, day after day, regenerative night of sleep after night.

MASTER PLANT TEACHER 😄

Thank you for this. It resonates with me.

Sometimes it seems density can act to guide one to the subtle.

The subtle might draw one equally into the dense.

Less vaguely: I've experienced chapters of fasting, light diet, and tremendously appreciated the effects. I also know the density of not caring for the mind/body and conversely reaped undesirable effects.
