I was vegetarian for a long time, then I was vegan for a while, now I'm on this diet I created:

Non-toxic Shamanic Paleo diet.

-The shamanic angle focuses on minimizing HPA axis activation: low adrenaline, low dopamine, low glycemic index, low stress. I actually don't eat that much flour or rice because of high glycemic index, low nutrition, and low fiber content. No added salt or refined sugars with a shamanic diet. No stimulant drugs for me, but that's debatable.

-I generally avoid dairy and lactose, and gluten (from grains).

-The most important part of the diet is actually that it places a MASSIVE emphasis on avoiding modern civilized toxins. For instance, I try my best to get locally sourced, organic, raw, and non-processed, and non-preassembled foods if possible, and not use plastic containers, drink filtered water... yes it's sad lol. local eggs are awesome. local food is awesome

-Interestingly, the grains used to be a cornerstone of my vegan diet but are now a side piece. Soy has a complete amino acid profile which is great. I always diversify the vegan proteins as much as possible. Some things in excess are a little difficult like too many beans, or too much kale, etc. It's basically impossible, or very very difficult to have a vegan diet that meets all nutritional needs.

-My favorite animal products that I eat are eggs, and sardines, and shellfish like shrimp(!). These help me out a lot nutritionally, and eggs have extremely high energy for an animal product so as to be almost worth of vegan status, energetically xD. These animal products help me get things like iron, collagen, EAA's, B vitamins, or various other things. on rare occasion I might eat liver, or lamb, chicken, beef etc, but rarely!

It feels better than anything I ever achieved with vegan food, which is a statement since a good vegan diet was already high energy. notably, this diet without the proteins IS VEGAN, and with the eggs, basically has the same energy as vegan, if not better since I really emphasize fruits and nuts a lot, and eggs are amazing.

This diet is a shamanic diet in it's own right.
It also facilities an easy transition into fasts with its low glycemic index, high fiber content, habituated 18hr fasts, and all around high levels of nutrition which are deposited deeply into your body. Not all fasts are the same. A healthy diet will accommodate for a healthy and stable fast which is low stress.

Worth one more mention, It tries its best to guard against the explosion of toxins found in modern civilized society.

I think it's one of the reasons they are out of amazonian dietas.

I love local organic eggs. Raise your own chickens if you have time and space. ;)
Marine products are often full of heavy metals (arsenic).
Most of the lakes were contaminated by industry too. Lots of stuff falls with the rain.

So it's all very dependent on where one lives and what could be afforded.
Prices in my region skyrocketed and markets have very little real food to sell.
Clean diet is a must, but very difficult nowadays.

Buckwheat is a good alternative to rice, try it out.

I was looking up ways to test lead content, seems like simple method could be devised.

I remember Joe Rogan mentioning multiple times - time when he ate 2 cans of anchovies every day. He got some bloodwork done and his doctor asked him if someone is trying to poison him... turns out they contain a lot of it. He stopped eating them after that.

I would say, not that I am living by it now, that your food should be rounded around seasons as well. You should eat different things in winter than in summer and so on...

I grow "cost effective things" mainly tomatoes and pumpkins. I am adding some fruit trees in containers. I guess if someone has window, then at least blueberry bush should be there... My goal is to have some valuable tasty things without chemicals. There is no way you can avoid everything, but to limit exposure and improve positive impact of food is possible.

Just my own experience, but garlic/onion in days prior to aya & analogs make body heavy.
One spends extra energy to purge this stuff, so why bother. Otherwise, it should be good for day-to-day meals.
I've become quite sensitive to it though and seldom eat it raw anymore, which I loved a lot 🧄

Spices are “cost effective things”. They are stronger when homegrown, and you can make herbal teas from them too.
Thyme, Salvia, Rosemary, Lemongrass and so on. You'll save a lot of money and will be healthier for it.

Curious: Could you share some examples a typical day of eating on this diet (e.g. which specific foods in what amounts)? Thanks ahead!
 
here is an example for brunch! (See attached image)

The vegan bowl has broccoli spinach kale prepared with curry and coconut oil, in I think a mix of vegan proteins(I only eat a fee not the whole bowl xD). I usually mix the vegan proteins. The bowl of nuts has walnuts and pecans in it today (unsalted). I usually eat brunch maybe twice at around 9am and 11/12am but depending on work that might have to be moved around for some. This food is very accessibly put in a lunch box and eaten at room temp which is nice.

I don’t really measure anything, and oftentimes I might save things as leftovers. That big plate of vegan proteins for example was probably half saved for later. I usually eat vegan proteins last. I almost always cook them with oils and various spices a few days in advance. I like to drink warm water first in the morning, and i like to eat nuts and fruits first. Then I eat my animal proteins and raw veggies, then I eat some of my prepared vegan food.

It feels very very good, and much more robust than vegan with the nutrients from the proteins I described above, but I do believe that at least minimal animal products are necessary in the human diet. I do get the impression that it’s almost impossible(or very difficult) to have a fully well rounded diet on only vegan food. I’m sure that point can be debated xD ~ but that’s just my opinion. The glycemic index is very low, as is salt, any adrenalines, dopamines, and cortisol. which I like. There is a lot which is NOT in this diet. I cheat less and less because it’s just so fresh. I really don’t want to eat much of anything else. The truth of the freshness for me is self reinforcing ✨

Additionally, I consider manner in which things are sourced more important than what of vegan vs animal. I consider it more imperative to consciousness and ecosystems in general that we predate all life in a healthy way, than that we simply avoid the consumption of those animals which have myosin muscle fibers. That being said, for spiritual reasons, I prefer a plant-life centered diet as much as possible.

This diet with perhaps some minor modifications is something I would be willing to give my kids, if I had any. Perhaps prepared with a tiny bit more culinarily flare though xD

I don’t really drink anything other than filtered water. Most vegan milks and juices are processed which is something I try to avoid as much a possible. I don’t drink stimulants period ~ unless it’s in a spiritual setting like peyote, ayahuasca, tobacco, ibogaine. My LSD and Salvinorin at the moment however are very calm in that regard.

I really aspire to start growing food, and buy much more locally. That’s very important to me, for many many reasons, but something I’ve not gotten to.

I would like to learn more about modern food supply toxicology since it’s very complex and it’s very important that we all learn about these things. Compensating for modern toxins is literally 90% of this diets priority. With the other properties making up there remainder ‘10%’ priority, artistically speaking. I really like what northape had to say above on the topic of modern food toxicity as well. ~

I really would like to get away from the grocery store as much as I can in principle but I’m still fully dependent on it. Also some of our local fields have been sprayed with heavy toxins in like the 1950’s or something and so a lot of our local produce cannot be called ‘organic’ ~ and I would like to learn more about this label and my local conditions.

This diet is high energy enough for shamanic work, especially if you are moving through heightened energy afterwards, this diet will be very accommodating.

Also, I believe that chewing so that you get more with less, (eating slowly in general), and fasting for 18 hrs are helpful elements to eating in a healthy, detoxified way.

Also if people want to introduce a healthy diet, I always recommend that they DON’T abstain from their prior culinary addictions/preferences/habits unless they truly want to. I would advise all to eat both healthy and unhealthy. For instance, if you love getting fresh donuts in the morning, I would say go for it to the degree you desire, and eat your healthy food alongside it. That way there is no compromise, only the best of all worlds. I believe that the sense of healthy food is truly self-reinforcing. I totally allow myself to ‘cheat’ as much as I like, but I’ve truly watched it become less and less and less.

I also understand that in some respects it might be a somewhat privileged diet, but is actually cheaper oftentimes than eating otherwise
