thoughts on Tipper?

Tipper's nice. I really like Ott as well.

Shpongle is still my go-to for electronic though, I've been a big fan since 13 and turned my dad into a bigger one than me 😆 . They were really the ones to get me into electronic music in the first place. I prefer Shpongle sober though, Tipper is a very good choice for tripping without making it too chaotic. Tipper enhances a trip, Shpongle is one. I think it must be Tipper's sound design, incredible.

I've been getting into Khruangbin as well lately - not electronic - but just psychedelic enough. Mordechai is a great album, and I love their tiny desk concert.

GREAT way to put it.

I've heard a few Khruangbin songs, but not much. i shall check them out as well. they played here the same night as a Billy Strings show in 2020-2021-ish, but i ended up going to the Billy Strings show as it was one of the last shows he played in a smaller venue (that i'm aware of) here.

@FlagellaStink hahaha this is funny, thank you for sharing your thoughts. If I'm not mistaken, my induction to Shpongle was at the same moment as my induction into DMT, as my friends thought that Divine Moments of Truth would be the best song for my first few journeys. I've spent evenings on large amounts of mushrooms listening only to Shpongle. They tickle my fancy on LSD as well. It's my typical go-to trip music and also what I'll change to if things start getting hard to handle during a journey.

Ott is also wonderful, though I haven't tripped to his music too much.

Have you guys come across Entheogenic, Bluetech, or Smilk by chance? In the vein of trippy electronic auditory goodies, these guys are pretty great too.

One love

I was actually going to mention Billy Strings in that reply but figured it was a bit too far off the mark 😅 It's good to know he's getting some love on the Nexus. I would've killed to see him play in a small venue, I still hope to see him one day at all. Khruangbin is great, but that was definitely the right choice.

I'm glad that worked out for you - Divine Moments of Truth was my first Shpongle song too and it almost turned me off of them completely! - possibly because I wasn't doing DMT. Luckily, I picked up Tales of the Inexpressible one day at a record store and it just blew me away. Still holding out for another album in the coming years 👀

(Note: I've since come to love Divine Moments of Truth)

I almost mentioned Entheogenic in my reply as well, another great one. I haven't heard of the other two though, I'll be sure to check 'em out.

besides Shpongle and the Grateful Dead, Tipper is up there as one of my favorite psychedelic artists. what do you guys think?

Yeah Tipper is the dude.. one of the great pioneers in psychedelic electronic music. I love that he used to be a truck driver and took influence from the sounds in his line of work.. at least that’s what my lecturer told me when I was studying audio..

Y'all are speaking my language up in this thread!! :D Shpongle, Tipper, OTT, and khraungbin are all dear to my heart. If you aren’t hip, Khraungbin is doing a massive US tour right now, so you can probably catch them live this year if you want to.

I’ll add one of my all time favs that rides this vein also; Lemonjelly. If you aren’t familiar I really encourage you to listen to the whole album as a single piece <3

Thanks for a cool thread!!

Have you heard the In Dub album Ott did? Is a dub mix of some of Simon Posford’s Hallucinogen tracks.. Is super epic :)

Mental Extensions I have a feeling you’ll love based on those artists you mentioned.. shame they only did one album but one of the guys has a similar solo project called Hypnagog also worth checking out.

And here’s a banger by Hedflux

@acacian Thank you SO much for the recs and listening homework. I hadn’t heard that album before, didn’t know it existed! Definitely gonna give it a good rinse or two :D

@McGspot Toadface is awesome! I love his EP Bugs for Breakfast. His older brother Yheti is a lot of fun too. He played in our city on bicycle day and the show was a hoot and a half. We don’t typically support Space Jesus anymore round my parts; he was mixed up in some sexual abuse type stuff with young girls. That’s why he was dropped from Wakaan.

Just wanna say anytime there is a music thread here on the Nexus, great recommendations get thrown around. Happy days <3

I’ll drop one more; this is my favorite Liquid Stranger album, definitely best listened to as a whole
