thoughts on Tipper?

@acacian Thank you SO much for the recs and listening homework. I hadn’t heard that album before, didn’t know it existed! Definitely gonna give it a good rinse or two :D

@McGspot Toadface is awesome! I love his EP Bugs for Breakfast. His older brother Yheti is a lot of fun too. He played in our city on bicycle day and the show was a hoot and a half. We don’t typically support Space Jesus anymore round my parts; he was mixed up in some sexual abuse type stuff with young girls. That’s why he was dropped from Wakaan.

Just wanna say anytime there is a music thread here on the Nexus, great recommendations get thrown around. Happy days <3

I’ll drop one more; this is my favorite Liquid Stranger album, definitely best listened to as a whole
Ah yeah I forgot about that thread! I shall start contributing more there.. the new nexus is so easy for sharing music!

@acacian we have GOT to get together on music sharing more often. I can be a bit sporadic with my listening habits so I often sit down and listen to recommendations all in one go.
A few days ago I listened to the In Dub album you recommended - WOW. Threw me down a whole tunnel of craving for more psydub and that’s what I’ve spent the week listening to (lots of Living Light if you know her work).

This weekend we went for a camping trip/retreat and dosed some LSD; we spent the peak listening to shpongle, but after the intensity mellowed and we were just playing under the stars, we spent the entire evening and almost entire next day listening to hypnagog. Could not have nailed the recommendation any better my man. Thanks so much for turning us on to their work :D

Also, FWIW, between some noisy friends and this thread, we’ve decided to send Secret Dreams and see Tipper play before he hangs it up <3

Peace
Sv

Hey is my pleasure! Always happy to share more musics..

Hypnagog is pretty great.. Felix Greenlees who is the guy behind it and Mental Extensions also has a fantastic psychedelic trance project called Terrafractyl which was his first project before diving into more downtempo beats.. its full of beautiful lattices of melodies and intricate percussion. He also is part of a really cool trio with a couple other producers called Free Standing Pickles.. below are a couple rippers

The section from 4:18 onwards in Tenshu still gives me shivers. Can't go past that bass drop at 4:44 before exploding into those tropical sounding melodies. Such immaculate layering. I often tear up listening to this one as it reminds of some very powerful LSD dancefloor experiences. Bless Felix's heart.

Tipper is a very interesting listen. The artist that did the cover for Jettison Mindhatch album is a member here ..Incedigris. Probably the most DMT like artwork i have seen.

Couldn't resist adding another cool from another couple pioneer Aussie morning psy artists..

- fun quirky melodic tune from Hired Goonz

- A gorgeous positive vibe stomper from Positive Thought

- Quench.. such staunch style of production

I like all these guys cos they don't follow the run of the mill formula in trance so many seem to do so these days..

Tipper. Gosh Dangit. I found him in 2007, out in the middle of nowhere, treeplanting having just met some people, i was the newcomer with weed when people had been dry for weeks and we all got high. I shared the herb and they shared Tipper and yes absolutely the man holds his own. Later that year going to Shambhala I was introduced to Bluetech as well, among other stellar acts.

Shpongle, Younger Brother, Hallucinogen are all a trip. Simon Posford is incredibly talented. And funny too. I remember seeing some live story on FB of his if I remember in the studio. They were showing off a gigantic volcano ballon in the studio full and milky white, it must have been over a meter long. I was thinking thaaaaaaat's most likely not cannabis. Thats how they do it!

Ott is amazing as well, I saw him in Victoria a few years ago. Love his stuff!!!!

Moderat.

Robert Leiner is the freaking man. The skill that people can develop and their relationships with their instruments is wild. Not to mention the artistry of composition, arrangement, sound design, mixing, mastering, etc.!

Autechre, Aphex and others are amazing. So much insanely beautiful music it's hard to keep track of it all. But I feel like I can't talk about contemporary music without bringing up Richard D. James. He has pretty much reached god-level status in the music world. I remember listening to some aphex twin livesets back in the day and thinking he's actually pretty good DJ but then sort of forgot this talent of his until I saw this and was like oh yeah he can do that amazingly too. Not to mention those visuals, gosh darn it. I love the video for T69 Collapse, among others.

Solar Fields - Movements

Stellardrone

Bonobo is also really freaking good. Ulver is also a quite phenomenal band, they are always reinventing their style but one really awesome thing I think they did (among the many awesome things they did) was put the entirety William Blakes The Marriage of Heaven and Hell into a two disc album which even without the amazing "lyrics" is an heck of an auditory journey. But most if their stuff is just really dang good. I seem to be getting further off track from 'electronica' so I'll just toss in Thievery Corporation too. I met basically half of Thievery, Rob Garza(He does his own DJ thing too) once at my second time at Shambhala and he was suuuper nice.

The Cinematic Orchestra is quite... Cinematic.

Also a lot of dubstep is just wild both sonically and thematically. Lastly I was coming onto here with sharing a particular track in mind and even though all of this doesn't really fit in the tipper specifically I guess this topic was open discussion anyways 😉 Haelos are super incredible
