using a mortar and pestle to powder bark

has anybody tried this?
some shredded bark is on its way for my first tek experience and i dont have a blender or coffee grinder, but i do have a mortar and pestle. im hoping to avoid having to buy a blender this time around.
would it work better to freeze it first? as i have seen that some people do before blending it.

It will not work. It will be just like pounding on a piece of wood...
For me also a coffee grinder didn't do much.

I use shredded (well, that's the only kind I can get around here). Consistency is a bit like rolling tobacco, but much coarser.
Since my tek of choice is BLAB, I just leave it soaking in lye for few days. I am not even sure it is that necessary since Lye is powerful stuff and will break down the shredded bark to a black gooey soup on its own, IME.

Shredded bark needs to be soaked in lye water few days for good yield, but you can avoid grinding this way.
Just mix it with water and hydroxide, wait 3 days and you can start pulling.

Or use a bit of acid and cook it in a PC as in an A/B extraction.

it sounds like shredded will probably be fine for me too if i let it sit in the water/lye mix for a few days.
unfortunately i do not have a pressure cooker and this tek has drained all my usable money for at least a month. i was going to buy one to grow mushrooms, but this tek took priority
no problem though, i am patient.

i am going to be following the tek in the following video. i am not sure what the tek is called. will it work for me to let the mix soak for a few days? i can also do my best with the mortar and pestle, then let it soak for a few days if needed:
